For doubters: |
Okey-dokey, then. |
I'm sure it won't be long before Valadez accuses someone at BPUB of tampering with his meter to make him look bad. There's no way he's going to admit to any wrongdoing. That's not how these people operate. |
How is it that this was kept under raps for so long? Do they have that much control??? |
Chris, I think the photographs that PUB took of the meter are public record. Any chance we could post one of these for the doubters out there? |

ok, so you have a police report. so what? there is no proof that this report was given to them. i can call the police, make a report that i saw Elvis flying a kite in my neighborhood. the report will be taken and thats it. why did't PUB file charges? |
PUB's procedure is that meter tamperers are given the opportunity to make restitution to avoid charges being filed. PUB treated Cris Valadez the same way they would treat any other customer. |
Cris Valadez was treated the same as any other customer. But he wasn't just any other customer. He was a board member at the time. There are major (enormous) conflicts of interest. Any other customer that tampers with a meter does not have influence over the meter reader's job, the meter reader's supervisor's job, etc. Being a whistle-blower takes courage. But are you willing to trust the system to ensure that you're not wrongfully terminated? Would you place your immediate family in a tight situation because of this? If anyone thinks that average BPUB employees don't get angry, threatening calls from board members and even city commission members, he is mistaken. He is also mistaken to think that some board members don't get other "perks." Cris was not just any other customer. |

Chairman of the PUB Board (Sanchez) should call for an immediate investigation (internal and external) into this theft and obvious cover up. |
Ok, so Valadez was not any ordinary customer. I would expect for this to be swept under the rug and not charge him any "restitution". So I guess Valadez paid these fees to avoid the charges? If so, is he automatically guilty? If I were Valadez and I had not tampered with the meter, I would have not paid the fine and filed my own report disputing the so called wire tampering, then hired an attorney to represent me against the charges or allegations. But how would this look being a board member? Tough situation for Valadez. |
