Judge Cascos proposed that every major department cut its budgets by 3.5 percent should the new courts created require funding by the end of the year. He also proposed that the JPs pick up the duties of the magistrates and possibly eliminate those positions. Regardless, he said he WILL NOT raise taxes for the unfunded mandates. We'll see what happens. There are going to be some unhappy folks for sure!
