While I’d agree that a Lion trying to hunt like a Cheetah is silly, the metaphor overlooks the myriad current resources for aiding in the writing process. Each of us may have some special talent, but it would be a shame to limit one’s endeavors to only those areas.
We can do research. The Internet itself has a wealth of resources for prospective online writers. In addition to the many search engines and directories that allow one to become an expert on everything from TiVo to tooth decay, there are now online collections of professional, academic, and scientific publications that can help the aspiring writer maximize the impact of his or her writing. Access to these valuable resources requires knowing where to look.
If it can’t be the Cheetah, the Lion can still stack the deck by checking out Antelopes Quarterly for the hot new watering hole, and happy hunting.
