"My thumbs have gone weird"

Gravatar Wow, Claypot. More?

Gravatar Damn fine writing there, my friend. For real.

Please [miss], may I have some more?

Gravatar Not a big cheese sandwich then? We had a big old rainstorm last night and I got to thinking how easy it would be to get away with murder here. Not that I'm thinking of it or anything, , so I bashed this out. Having one of those times where nothing is happening, so figured I might as well make something up.

Gravatar this is the best yet, C.
too bad it wasn't true.
i mean, not about the murder part, the rest.
i really enjoyed this, thank you.

Gravatar Put it in the novel!

Gravatar I was going to say Wow, but others beat me to it, so I'll just say WOW! You had us all right there raptly listening to your tale.

Gravatar You've acquired a new tone of voice?

Gravatar That's brilliant Claypot!

Gravatar That was spellbinding from the start. If you should ever decide to write a novel, I will be the first in line to buy one!

Gravatar That really was gripping stuff.

But please tell me they don't really eat caterpillars?

You just had to get a reference to creepy crawlies in there, didn't you? It's your hallmark...

Gravatar Yes they do eat caterpillars! It's quite common in Africa. Well Southern Africa anyway. I had to drive home from town the other day with a big bag of 'em sitting on the dashboard. And a dead pig in the back. But that's another story.

Gravatar I wanted to say "Gripping", but Petite beat me to it! I'm gripped though, well and truly. I hereby invite you to grip me again!

Gravatar The water seemed to fall back and forth, like threads weaving on a loom.

That struck me as odd at first. It made me pause and try and picture the movement of the rain.

It's perfect.

And that's a sign of great writing, isn't it, when it can make you stop and create a picture in your mind from the words.

The whole story is wonderfully vivid and atmospheric. I was also quite anxious about the real life consequences by the end.

Gravatar Ria - we get all kinds of strange rainfall here! And yeah, it does sometimes bother me that something like this murder could really happen and someone could get away with it. With no electricity, on a moonless night it is absolutely pitch black. And if it's raining you cannot hear anything but the water. And of course there's no police nearby...not that you could call them...having no phones....*runs away home having frightened herself silly.*

Gravatar Fabulous.

Gravatar I'm in awe, Claypot. I was going to ask if you saw it all firsthand or heard about it later, but I see it was a work of fiction. Truly captivating! I was also going to ask about the caterpillars, but that does not at all surprise me to hear it's true. I've been doing periodic posts titled, "People Really Eat That Shit?!" about the strange foods eaten all over the world. Anyway, I'll ditto Lisa...if you ever publish a novel, consider me a buyer!
