Awhile back, I sat down and made a list of all the Black gay men I know, and what I knew of their HIV status. The overwhelming majority of these men were positive. They are my friends, colleagues, and associates, and my life would be diminished not having them in it. If I ever meet "Mr. Right" and he too is HIV+, that will just be one factor to take into consideration, not the only one.
Love is complex, and you'll find out, more often than not, men who have been HIV+ and have been in that state for many years, have learned to live with complexities of life and love. Good luck.
Well, you know where I stand on this issue- we all need to develop the maturity to accept love in every facet that it comes.
3 men in my life, that I know of, have been HIV+. Only one told me. I chose love. He's gone now but I will always cherish what we shared because he has been the only man not afraid to love me. The other two are not aware that I know their status and have yet to tell me.
They've missed out on a lot of love.
As much as I want to be love and be loved, I do not know what I would do. I would want to accept the person through sickness and in health. But, I would be frighten to go through the process of my lover dying from AIDS.
I find that we as men tend to place complexities in our lives due to the preferences and choices we make, and you must also understand on a spiritual level when you SAY with your mouth that would like to be in love mutually, you are sending out to the universe that you are in lack when the reality is that you are in lack and the nature spiritual state is to let you stay in lack, because that is what you asked for, instead be thankful for the love that you have and give away the thing you want most, as far as picking partners who are HIV+ or HIV-, think of it this way we are all HIV something, and the reality is already amongst us where as we may not have the choice.
