I feel you about student loans and not have a mother to co-sign on an apt. As well as seeking to purchase a home on a nonprofit professional salary. And doesn't it suck to see our peers get assistance, LOL. Yeah, I'm bitter, LOL!
Lets keep our eyes on the Mansions, LOL. Try to check out first time home buyer programs in DC. I just joined one up here recently. They profide assistance with down payment and credits scoring.
Great post, Clay. Especially those last two paragraphs. I've maintained for years class is the issue that divides people, far moreso than race, sex, religion or sexual orientation.
While my best earning years are dwindling, I still want that house of my own as well.
You're absolutely right. There are many fiscals lessons that we need to learn. In many ways, we are in volunteer slavery.

u r there already, its just a matter of time. U'r much further a head then most your age and certainly me whne i was your age. I purchased my first home at 26, 2nd one at 31 and of course u practically helped with the search for my current home. But i did all three with 2 incomes. u will do this, and i'mvery proud of u.
We've seen DC property value skyrocket since we've been here and if you don't make enuf you may have to buy somewhere where you don't want to live (if you can buy at all). Also, if you don't plan a high-paying career, you'll never be able to reach the income bracket to buy wherever you want. This comes down to education. Sadly, many of our misguided people frown upon education. It's a vicious cycle we're in that needs to stop.
