Gravatar Hey,

Gorgeous socks! I just wanted to let you know there is a World Festival of knitted socks in Tassie in a little while. They are seeking entries for a bunch of sock knitting competitions - open to anyone, kids as well. I am sure yours would be a winner.

Check it out:

Gravatar I too am disappointed when fellow commuters are not even curious, but most are probably just too polite or diffident to stare outright.

Lovely socks, as I'm sure you are aware. Impressive all round.

Gravatar Gorgeous socks. It is really lovely to see Number 2. I think you're very good knitting cable and commuting. I have such a bad memory that if I knit on a train, I tend to stick to something simple so my brain doesn't get all confused. People over here must be much ruder because I do get stared at. On the first night, coming back from London at commuterish time with new DPNs and casting on my first ever pair, I sat opposite a guy who was transfixed all the way to his stop. When I dropped a needle, it was like he was woken from a trance!

Gravatar You can only imagine the stares I get knitting socks on my daily commute into Brisbane! No one has asked me yet about my knitting, but THE looks! As I knit on dpns, I think they might think I'm going to poke their eye out! As for standing and knitting well done!!
The socks are gorgeous btw, just stunning!

Gravatar i love them! beautiful combo of pattern and colour.

Gravatar i love the knitting commute. big fan. in fact when i have no project to work on i go a bit crazy. or sleep. either way no good for the noggin if you know what i mean. i always wonder why more folks don't take up a train hobby. it makes the commute productive rather than a waste of time. sometimes i feel like sticking spare needles into the hands of riders who spend their 50 minutes each morning and night staring out the window guessing as to the punctuality of the trip. so stressfull.

Gravatar These are just beautiful. One day I want to make some socks. I like that you did them on the train. Excellent job! I also loved your felted blocks from a few posts ago. Your blog is a bright spot in my day!

Gravatar beautiful: colour and texture
greetings from astrid from holland

Gravatar Wow, I am impressed, knitting socks standing up on the train! I knit on the tram (never anything so impressive as socks - perhaps why I rarely recive a comment - but I do get staring) but I am yet to work out how the hell I could possibley knit standing on the train or tram what with the over crowding and excitable braking! Any hints?

Gravatar I can't believe no-one would comment on those gorgeous socks. And glad to hear you didn't feel embarrassed to KIP.

Gravatar Oh, I love these socks! You did a fabulous job and it was very fun to read about your knitting while commuting.

Gravatar Love your socks and your comments on commute knitting. I used to knit during my 1/2 hour morning ferry trips. Having moved house and changed commutes a month ago, I found myself wondering out loud at dinner the other day if anyone on the ferry had noticed that the knitting girl was gone... sigh. I haven't been brave enough to try train knitting yet because I never get a seat, but if you say it is possible to knit whilst standing on a train...well I might have to give it a try.

Gravatar Your socks are gorgeous!

Gravatar (beautiful -- you know what I mean)

Gravatar Those are simply eautiful socks!!

Re: lukewarm reaction to knitting in public. Do you think there are perhaps more people who are obliquely observing you with unwaveringly keen, yet reserved, interest? That's what I get on the Tube in London. I'm not an exhibitionist knitter by nature, but it sure would be nice if more people would take an active interest in learning or asking about how it's done. I wouldn't mind giving a mini-tutorial in between station stops, either! Anything to jump start a lifelong and fruitful activity. :)

Gravatar lovely, lovely socks!

Gravatar Oh LOOK at your Sock pal giving you hints on who she might be! I'm not that brave. heh But I wish my sock pal would leave me a little note. :)

Your socks came out just lovely! Even with the broken cable. Just wonderful. Have fun with your SockapalOOOza socks - can't wait to see what yarn and pattern you choose!

Gravatar I only know how to knit? Hahahaha.
Late to the party, but full of admiration nonetheless. Great socks, dude.

Gravatar I did those socks last year and they were really enjoyable to make (no mistakes - can I boast?). I'm thinking of my second pair.....although I'm not as brave as you in wanting to try cabling without a cable needle!!

Gravatar these are gorgeous! which interweave are the from. (can you tell all my interweaves are starting to merge into one)

Gravatar Wow, I love your socks! Your last bit about how many socks in a calendar year cracked me up, since that's exactly what I've been thinking about ever since I finished socks in 15 days...Clearly I've been slacking, or I'd have nothing but handknit socks by now.

Gravatar I just sent the link on Wabi Sabi to my Legal Methods professor telling her I had decided to adopt it for my appellate brief!! Thank you! She will be amused. :) Beautiful socks!!!

Gravatar OH, the socks look so cozy! Great Job! I have another hint for you! I read Siri's Blog and I have left a comment or two over there :)
