It's the same for me, since being a mother I am so much more sensible to other people's suffering. Maybe it also is related to getting older and being more aware of what is actually behind the photos you get to see on the news.
I did not know ALDI was in Australia, too, what a surprise. I will check out their website to see their products... I see they have special buys there, too. Do people line up in front of the shops before opening on the days the sale starts, too? In Germany that's quite usual.

thanks for the hot tip on the nappy front, i am currently brewing my own baby and have been wondering what is best, and funnily enough have only heard good things (on the usage front) about the ALDI option! I couldnt agree with you more regarding the senstivity upload though - i was always pretty distressed by these things but now it's just so much more intense, i cant even watch Dexter anymore - too violent. your litte c looks excellent, enjoy watching him grow!

What a lovely blog - thank you for letting us visit you.
Nappies - mmmm. I also use the Aldi ones and they seem fine. Nights are still Huggies for us but as she is older, she is not filling them at night any more.
I have a size 41 narrow foot - I understand your pain! My daughter has very narrow feet also and we struggle to find her shoes - I mean struggle. Nearly the entire Clarkes range are too wide. In a giant shoe store we had the choice of one pair of shoes for her! Now I will have to stock up on that brand (Keds if you little one suffers the same fate...)

i can so relate to new and extreme forms of empathy since having children.
and i, too, just want to gather up my little ones and escape to some self-sufficient nirvana, wondering what i have brought my children into this world to face...
but priceless they are and i am so blessed that i did.
thank you for your thoughts.

Hi,
Been reading your blog with interest for a few months now since I have been home with my 13 month old daughter. After using cloth nappies and getting bad excema, we switched to Moltex disposables which last us all night, not sure if it is due to the baby or the nappy but I found they worked better on Cassidy then the Bamboo ones. I get them from ecodirect.com.au. When I did try Huggies they still gave her a rash and the crystals that precipitaed out onto her skin gave me the creeps.

i hope you didn't see the doco on the bulgarian orphanage last night, it was absolutely heartbreaking and i only caught the last 15 minutes. even just having the baby in my belly is making me look at situations with more empathy and i was overcome with sadness for the poor little tykes.

Lord knows, nappies that don't work result in a lot of laundry (jarmies, sheets, blankets, Mum's jarmies, Dad's jarmies, etc etc)
We've had success with the Ecobots, if you find yourself needing to try something else, mostly I think it's trial and error to find what works for your kid.
What we haven't had so much luck with is the delivery people. I was significantly overcharged on one delivery so now I have to trek to the big supermarket.
