I can attest to the fact that Can I Sit With You (the blog and the book –but especially the book) is fantastic. The stories are all quite different, thanks to the various authors who contributed, but they work together wonderfully. It's a quick and relatively light read, even though it deals very seriously (and effectively) with some big, difficult issues.

I think a mature 8- or 9-year old would understand and enjoy the book, though middle schoolers on up (through adults!) will really enjoy it. Can I Sit With You? would be a great book for a parent to read with a younger kid. If you've wondered about whether you should buy it–go for it!
