I used to use Avent browser, I found "DeepNet Explorer" to be as user friendly (tabs), plus it has anti-phishing and P2P built in.

Steven and Avant:
If he's been using Avant since 2003-early 2004, he likely has no idea what the new Firefox is about, having only "tested" it, not used it extensively.
Having said that, I'm going to give Avant another look, as I'm tired of Fx's memory-grabbing ways.

Clif, I've been using Avant for at least 3 or 4 years. At first it was the privacy features that attracted me, then I found the mouse controls that I fell in love with and the tabs and so on and so on........
I recently started using "Firefox" I like it as well but Avant is still my default. The only problem found with Avant is that my Google front page can sometimes hang up ....haven't figured out why yet but I don't have that problem with Firefox. All in all I want to let your readers know that I found/find Avant not only useable but fun and easy to use. I also know of at least three Mircosoft programmers and IT developers that use Avant as their default browser...to me that says alot.

Hi Clif,
Have been testing different browsers over the years and keep coming back to Firefox. Adblock with appropriate filter set (and other extensions and featrues) keep me coming back. Memory leaks are no longer an issue in latest edition.

A couple weeks ago, house-sitting for a friend, in a fit of desperate frustration (or maybe frustrated desperation) I installed Avant on his archaic Win98 system and gave it a try and was so pleased with the lack of problems that upon my return immediately installed it on my fairly new WinXP system. It didn't last the day before I uninstalled it due to an over-abundance of incapatability awkwardness. Mind you, I also wasn't impressed by Foxfire on this machine either. And I'm still using Opera 8.5 instead of 9 (tho' I did put Opera 9 also on my friend's machine and it works great). So go figure.

When I click in the "OK" button in the Avant Browser Options window
the adress bar, the search bar and the standard bar arrange themself in the same line.

Avant has all the features the new browsers are boasting about.
Been using it for years and its been wonderful.
I can't get used to Firefox's tab - they just don't seem to work the way I think they should. Avant's tabs on the otherhand, work exactly the way I expect.

My primary problem with alternative browsers is, "Does it support RoboForm?"
And if you're not using IE or Firefox the answer is "No, it doesn't."
RoboForm has me spoiled.

Yes, it does support AI Roboform. That's one of the first things you'll notice when you fire it up and you already have Roboform installed.

I like your website. I have started a freeware blog too, because I think that good free software deserve to be promoted. I will add a link to your site on the main page of my blog, just to help spreading the word about good freeware. If you want to check out my blog here's the link Best Freeware Blog
Also if you could add my link on your site I would be very grateful. Cheers and good luck.

I used to use Avant Browser as my only IE replacement but new releases always destroyed my settings. It became tiresome having to change everything to my preferences every few weeks or months. My writing to the author never helped because I never got a response. For the VERY few times I need to use IE it is not worth the efforts.
Now, SeaMonkey, Firefox, Opera, and even Lynx (pure text) work well enough for me.

Hi Brett,
Were you aware that Avant has supported saving your bookmarks, rss feeds and auto-fills with the Avant Online Storage service?
I also found this in the forums: copying the .default folder over to Avant's program directory should preserve everything.
Now that there's a portable version, I think you'll have fewer problems updating since you can always load the new version in a different folder.
