Hi Cliff,
Download Express is an excellent multi-thread download manager for windows. Is there any similar multi-thread downloading freeware for linux, say, PCLInuxOS ?

I have an iMac with OS X (10.4.10) and use the default theme, which makes the title bar of all open windows a light grey.
I would like to find a program that causes the title bar of the active window to turn a darker shade of grey or a different color.

Hi Clif
I am looking for a good CD Catalog program that would allow some user's defined fields.
Thank you in advance for your support and for your newsletter.
Please keep up the good work.

At a Trade School where I teach the students are constantly changing the Win XP settings on the computers we have connected to the Ihnternet.
I am looking for a program that will reset all the custumizations when the compouter is rebooted.
Thigs like mouse settings, desktop background, etc.

This one is for the Apple users. Looks like a handy windows management tool. Wouldn't mind seeing this applied to Windows OS.
Afloat Utility - Floating Transparent Window For Mac OS X
[ quote ]
Afloat is a system preferences utility that adds a 'float on top' option and customizable transparency settings to virtually any Cocoa app in Mac OS X. Once installed (and you restart any Cocoa apps that were running), new keyboard shortcuts and a couple of options under the Window menu will offer all sorts of handy window management and see-through goodness. Great for those times when you have windows layered on top of each other and just need to glance at something underneath, and when you're using a bittorrnet client to download a Quake 4 demo and you're sick of it falling underneath Adium every time you switch to chat - or just for those times when you want to show off with some sexy transparency.
Afloat is freeware, a Universal Binary, and available from Emanuele Vulcano's site. http://millenomi.altervista.org/Afloat/
Tuaw.com Apple Weblog - many Mac freeware apps. can be found here.

This morning I received three emails advising that there were replies to my comment.
But no replies appear when I go to the URL.

Sorry Edward, I can't believe it. I could only find one theme manager for OS X, and it ain't free.

To bad for Mac enthusiasts ... I had no idea they were so locked into a look and feel.
Have fun!

There should be tons of options. I just couldn't find many free one.
Here's what I've got so far.

Caution: This one is from an unreliable source.
I installed it and scanned it. So far it seems ok.

To Herb:
That last application, AppLock, actually looks pretty good. Seems to be something you could use.
I'll run one more scan later before I give it a thumbs up.

Applock gets a clean bill of health from me.
http://applock-application-locke...r.qarchive.org/
However, they do ask for an email address. Don't give them your personal email address. Their website has bad marks in SiteAdvisor.
Doh !!!
Just found out that it may not be freeware. They gave no indication at the download site. It's up to you if you if you still want to try it.
I had checked for a license file and there was nothing in the installer or the install folder. Found a listing for it at Download.com and it's listed "Free to try" there.

I need audio cd catalog software that will look at cddb for titles instead of Amazon. The final database of my CD's needs to be searchable by track name and composer at least.
Any ideas? The ones I have found either cost $30, or use Amazon for their search, which doesn't help with old and unusual CD's.
Thanks!

Dear Clif,
Thank you very much for your help. I have downloaded all the multithread download managers for Linux. I shall try them at my leisure.
Thanks once again.

I've been using TwoFer, an app that automatically sets up two Windows Explorer windows side-by-side, for years. Now I can no longer find its source. Is there a version, or similar app, that works with Vista Home Premium?
Thanks.
