i'm looking for a program that will notify me when someone opens my email.preferably free and without notifying them that i have the program. i was using 'msgtag' successfully for years until my ISP decided to up their security and changed ports or something and now msgtag won't support the changes.thanks for any suggestions,

I never thought I would say it, but freeware for Mac OS X. I am using that OS more and more lately and while I have found everything I could possibly need in the freeware area for the PC thanks to you and Google, there is very little freeware that is needed for the Mac. But some things are lacking and it would be nice to have a few to help out the wallet.
This could be because there is no Visual Studio type environment for the OS X platform (that I know of) so there are not as many developers out there working on programs like the IBM side has.
Some of the things I would like to see for the Mac are good bulk renaming utilities, mp3 taggers, etc. I know that the purpose of this newsletter is the PC platform, and for that it serves it's purpose excellently. Maybe that it is all it should be about so it doesn't become diverted in two directions and weakened. Maybe instead of stealing Clif away from the PC audience the Mac people can simultaneously find another site to use for our Mac needs and use this forum as a place to merely mention where that might be (once it is discovered). I don't think it is Clif's job to find both PC and Mac specific items. But if he could tell us in all his research if he has ever ran across any Mac freeware sites and maybe suggest them in parallel to his exploring out there, that would be great.

Ray:" try "DTaskManager" by Dimeo. Think "Task Manager" on steroids! You can set it up for "call up" use, or replace Task Manager with Ctl-Alt-Del. Has many things that Task Manager should have. Been using it for years! Free!!!
