Clif,
Thanks for the review of Lotus Symphony. The download/install hoops and fumbles are indeed disappointing. It seems that not much has changed at IBM in the past 30-years. They make a great technical product but can't seem to get it to market. Remember OS2?
Many years ago I read a very good book about how/why IBM failed to be able to compete in the PC market. It's called "Big Blues" (see URL)
It clearly show how superior technical ability can't overcome bad management.
Keep up the good work.

Dear Clif,
Is there any linux OS that identifies, downloads the photos from and helps to take snapshots using a good Intel Pocket PC camera? I have more than a dozen different Linux OS systems, all these identify this camera at the USB port but say that the port is not configured properly !! To the best of my knowledge, USB ports do not require any configuration to put the camera into action. Any comments?
Thanks in advance,
(Sorry that I wrote this earlier in the wrong window!!)

I am looking for a freeware that would enable me to search through my thousands of digital pictures by using keywords and categories. I don't want to use a Java application, but something simple yet powerful enough for my needs.
Thanks for helping me out on this!

Seems to me I've been looking forever for a good freeware notes program. Sticky Notes, Freebie Notes, and several others don't make it. Just want to save notes on my desktop in an accessible form.
Thanks!

Hey Peter - You are probably going to have to settle for a 'desktop' search utility....have a look at this article here:

The best one for your purpose may well be 'Copernic Desktop Search'....have a look here:

Hope that helps......JIMBO

Clif,
I am looking for a possible freeware that will allow me to take snapshots of my BIOS screen so I can save my settings. Is there such a software out there? Love your newsletter for it has provided me with hours of education and entertainment. Keep up the good work mister,
Robert from Wisconsin

Sorry Robert. There is no such program. You have to use a camera to take a picture of the different screens to keep records of the settings. (old trick)

I highly recommend NotesHolder Lite.
It is like an actual pocket notepad with pages. It has a small system footprint and uses minimal resources. It's easy to add to previous notes and you can pop it out of the system tray or attach it to the side of the screen like a toolbar

Hi Ryan,
I finally found it. I used to use this program years ago. It's called QeepIt and it's a portable app and as a bonus all of the database is text. It sure ain't fancy but you might love it anyway.
