I need a tray clock where I via a keystroke can copy a timestamp on to the clipboard, for pasting into different applicastions in Windows.
I also need to format that timestamp as I see fit.
So far I have used Dale Nurden's TClockEx, but he stopped developing it years ago.
There is a shareware software called AceClock, but it's way too much for such a little task.

Software that I am looking for:
Registry Cleaner: I’ve used Regseeker on my previous PCs with great results. I purchased a new PC (Vista) and now the results are erratic. I perform a scan and see a list of about 100 items. Delete them, and run it again. I see some of the exact items listed again (so they are not deleting)…and also see “jpg: extension not used”, which I know something is fishy. Last Saturday I ran the scan again and Regseeker found 5,205 items. I did not delete any of them. So now I’m looking for a replacement to Regseeker. Since I am on an extreme budget, free is my first option.
Start-up Entries: In Regseeker there is the functionality to list all programs that load when Windows starts. It provides the functionality to remove specific items from the list. Since I am getting rid of Regseeker, I lose this functionality. I do use Ad-aware which informs me when a program is trying to insert itself in the startup process, but I cannot find in the program where you can uncheck items that are already there. I also found that if you are installing software, and it is trying to insert itself in the startup process, you need to accept it, or the install process hangs. I’ve used Mike Lin’s Startup Control Panel. It works, but was hoping to combine the two (startup & Registry cleaner).

PGWolfe - I can highly recommend 'Advanced WindowsCare', it performs both those tasks very well. Advanced WindowsCare Personal (freeware from the Iobit people) incorporates many fixes and tools in a one click solution....it is a bit of a jack of all trades but both the registry cleaner and startup manager are superior. The registry scanner/cleaner automatically backs up any changes to a 'restore center' and the startup manager has a right click link, for each entry, to the 'Sysinfo' site which will help identify the item and suggest the appropriate action. You can delete, or disable/enable any entry easily.

Øyvind Granberg - This freeware does what you want, and it can be configured with the INI file. It is also written in a simple language called AutoHotkey, which makes it easy to edit if you want it to do more. That page is filled with other goodies too.

PGWolfe:
Check out autoruns for windows, freeware that lists startups and let's you change whether they startup or not:

For a registry cleaner, I recommend RegCleaner which is no longer freeware and now goes by a different name. Fear not, the last freeware version is here: http://www.321download.com/

I need a program with a GUI interface that will allow me to modify entries on the fly from the DisallowRun key of the Win XP registry. Here's the key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV

Some of the free registry editors allow you to set shortcuts so that you can at least get to the DisallowRun section pretty quickly.
I'll check to see what I've reviewed and get back to you. In the mean time, I'm sure someone else here has used a good regedit replacement program, and will chime in.

I want to use an old computer as an external hard drive by connecting it to a Windows computer through the 10/100 nics. The old computer will not have a keyboard or mouse or monitor so I guess I am looking for a free program for Windows to DOS networking.

Any of you living in the UK and like the TV program "Primeval" then your in for a treat.
Being a keen fan myself i found a nice two player game for me and the kids, which is based on the series with raptors, it's not a huge game as yet, but keeps the kids happy and me lol.
a direct link

Details are:
"The Primeval Game where as the raptors are on the loose in the station compound and the anomalies are dormant, you have to destroy them and the raptors and picking up the powerups before making your way to destroy the big one"
there is more about it

That timestamp utility really was what I was looking for, but during installation I got an error stating that this is not a Win32-program.
I run Windows Vista Ultimate

Tray Clock - Freeware:
AlfaClock doesn't cut it. There free version is really trialware. It only runs for a few weeks and then expires. They want $30 for this little utility.
Anybody know of a freeware version with some of the features (a pop-up calendar would be nice, an alarm clock would be even nicer). I miss the old TClock I used for years.

Hi Tom,
I don't doubt what you've seen, but the Alfa Clock site says it's free. You didn't by some chance download a trial-Pro version?

Sarbyx TrayClock

Hey Tom - Not wishing to intervene but just offering a further option to those already put forward.
Have a look at 'ClocX' here:
http://www.clocx.net/about.php
I haven't tried it but it seems to include all the options you are looking for.

"derivative version of TClock" - TClock Lite. Just a little too lite.
I have downloaded Sarbyx TrayClock. Will give it a try. Looks interesting.
Alfaclock Free. Three times from different sources I tried the "free" version. All either said the trial period was over or said it would expire the middle of March.
Couldn't believe it as nothing is mentioned on the page. Downloaded the free version two different times starting at the Alfaclock site. Clicking on the download link takes you to Download.com. You are redirected to version AlfaClock Free 1.99, but it is far from free. Anybody else had any luck with it.
