I am looking for a small utility that lets me switch audio output easily, without going through lots of dialogs. I specifically would like to switch between my bluetooth headset and wired headset easily. I have seen this utility for a Mac, but have yet to spot anything like it for a PC.
Thanks,
Charlie

Hi Charlie, just took a look. I found nothing. I do have an audio-guru friend who may know the answer.
I'll fire off an email to him to see if he has any ideas ...

Hi Clif - (great job on the news letters)
I would like a simple small application firewall/filter that could control all and any out going traffic on a program by program basis.
I don't need a full blown multi-megabyte firewall, I get a true full stealth rating from Shields Up already but would like to control out going traffic only.

You want light-weight protection ... how about a trip to http://oldversion.com for a look at some of the earlier versions of popular firewalls.
Kerio Personal Firewall
Outpost Firewall
Sygate Personal Firewall
Tiny Personal Firewall
ZoneAlarm
I've used v3.x of ZoneAlarm for slower old XP machines. Works fine.

Charlie and Clif,
i have yet to hear of anything like that to switch audio outputs.
you could try KVRaudio.com, but i dount such a device exists,as generally pc's have only one output.
the other option is to hit donationcoder.com and ask....and when someone writes ya a program, try and remember that donations there in fact DO go far and it's creators are worthy!
good luck

Hi Clif
I need software that will allow me to make playlists of music, either random or based on beats per minute or something. I'd like GJay gjay.sourceforge.net but I don't think it's available for windows

You are correct Nipun. GJay is not available for Windows.
I've never heard of a utility for Windows that will sort songs based on the sound or beat. It does sound useful tho.

Here's a DVD ripper that Samer tried out recently. It looks like it'll be easy to use.
