I would like a list of the best freeware that everyone uses with Linux. Since I am new to Linux, if it makes a difference, PSLinuxOS in particular.
Thanks

I haven't tried this, but it looks like it will do what you want and is listed as a 5 star program.

I have a list of almost 500 people in my Outlook Express Email Address book. I am looking for someway to automatically send each one a birthday wish on the day of their birthday. Any suggestions???

@John: As Peg suggested PDF XChange will let you grab images out of a PDF. It's also a nice way to annotate PDF files.

@Peg: I couldn't find a good list of apps for PCLinuxOS. Your best bet would be to join in their forums and ask around.

@Ray: Do you have the birthdays recorded in your Outlook Express address book?
You might be a step closer to getting the info into someplace you can use it by exporting the address book to a CSV file.
Once in the CSV file, you can import it into a Spreadsheet program like the one in Open Office.
There may be a way to convert the data from CSV into iCalendar format but it would take some hacking to figure it out. You could use the iCalendar data to import it into Google Calendar or some other service that would send out mailings on certain days like a birthday.

Peg...I've been using Ubuntu for a few months now. There's quite a learning curve, but, I did find it's much easier to add programs by going to Applications>Add/Remove. It will show availble software. I chose to have all available applications shown. Each app is rated by users, so that could be a guide for you. I am using Ubuntu, so, it could be different, but, I'll bet it will at least be similar. From the forums, I found most think anti-virus programs are a waste of resources...many did recommend the Firestarter firewall.
I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination. Linux is much more hands-on than Windows in many ways. By trial & error, I've learned a bit...I can at least find my way around. I do agree with Clif...the forums are gonna be quite helpful to all us newbies.
My dog woke me way too early this morning & I'm very sleepy right now...I hope I did make some sense & was at least a modicum of help.

@evelyn62: There are many freeware media converters, the one that I use is WinFF http://www.winff.org/ Looking at the program, it has about 6 different "presets" to convert to Ipod. WinFF is just an extremely simplified way to harness the power of ffmpeg, which is a well known media converter.

MS office 2007 setting export/import freeware.
What i need is a program that can save MS office 2007 customized settings. These settings can be replicated in future when you install MS office 2007 after formatting windows.

@Ajay: I was not able to locate anything that does this.
You might ask in the MS Office forums.

I'm guessing that you might be able to save settings by exporting some registry settings.

Do you use it? Would you care to write up a small review of it?
Thanks!

Hi Evelyne,
My guess is that the download labeled winff0.422setup.exe is the one you need.
