Cliff / Anyone:
What I would like is a Bookmark Organizer - something that would let me make Folders and place specific locations within them; and possibly a place to add comments.
Thanks for your help.

I need to unlock/unwrite protect a USB drive that was locked without my knowledge or consent. I have tried three USB formatters but they won't work because the USB drive is write protected. And I tried to bulk erase it with an electro magnet and that didn't work either.
Any further ideas|???

Dear Cliff;
I really enjoy your newsletter and would like to Thank You for all of your help over the years. Do you know of a free anti virus that will work with Vista Ultimate 64 bit OS and any other programs that will work with Vista Ultimate 64 bit OS.
Thanks
Rick

Avast has one. I installed it on my grandson's 64 bit Vista and it is working great.

Hey Rick - All of the big 3 free anti-virus programs have 64bit versions, i.e. Avast, AntiVir and AVG.
As for other 64bit apps, have aread here:

software.htm
There are other sites...try Googling, "64bit software/freeware" or similar. You should get plenty of hits.
cheers....JIMBO

Hi Cliff,
I haven't seen any site yet which has noted the potential value of the new "Canned Responses" option in gmail.
It is now possible to set up a preferred format for your gmail using this new Google Labs feature.
After enabling the Canned Responses option, you only need to go to a blank e-mail, type in a few characters and format them as you would like (colour, font etc), then delete the characters and save the blank e-mail as a Canned Response.
From then on you can access your preferred format by clicking on the Canned Responses option within gmail and then type away using your saved settings.
I've waited for the chance to set up a regular format for my gmail for as long as I have been using it, and now it's finally here nobody seems to have noticed the possibility!
Best wishes,
Simon Bleasdale

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the comment. Actually, quite a few big names on the net have recognized the potential of Gmail's Canned Responses.
My first search on it came up with this:
http://snipurl.com/fm8rp
As expected, posts in webworkerdaily and lifehacker probably cover everything you thought of and more.
Best wishes to you and thanks for the comment. You've given me something to think about because, like you, I'm a rabid Gmail user, from the day it first appeared online.

Thanks Everyone;
It looks like i should have asked you guys first, instead of asking the guys at work. Anytime you find some 64 bit programs sites please post them and let everyone know about them. The reason i am hearing about not switching to 64 bit OS is the severe lack of programs that are compatilble with Vista 64 bit OS. I don't see what the big beef is about Vista. It seems to be running fine. Also, when i switched from Windows 3.1 to 98 i encountered the same glitches with hardware drivers.
Thanks Again
Rick

I clicked on the link to the Google search for the use of "Canned Responses" you provided. I quickly scanned a few of the results but none of them suggested using Canned Responses to set up a text formatting template like I'd suggested? Maybe I just didn't click on enough of the results, as I'm sure other people must have realised the potential to do this.

That's great Simon. In that case I'd agree with you that you may have found a unique use for Canned Responses.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

I recently saw a program that would allow you to add all your favourite programs after a reformat.
I believe that you could set it to load them in a set order. Has anyone heard of such of thing?
Many thanks for all your help and for a great news letter. Ian

Hi Ian from Canada. I've never heard of that one. Let me know if you find it. That does sound like it would be handy to have.
