I wish I could remember the examples that I've seen, but I have seen several similar blogs in the past. It is potentially a very effective tool to sell the products that you carry. Passive, non-aggressive advertising like this can reach an audience very easily and does help to convey a level of credibility; making the connection between "news" and products on your website. Certainly, not everybody will click the link to the product and even fewer will buy, but some would argue that even one sale proves the value of the effort.
