Good blog, I dont really notice a lot of companies that use blogs. I see that a lot of people use them to talk about topics of interest.

I think companies using blogs is a good idea. However, I do feel that companies should track there blogs as bad post from customers can be bad for the company. Blogging is a great way to show how reliable your company may be. Also, blogging is a great way to get customer feedback.
Way to go Dr. Carl!

I think it's interesting that Sam would spell "No" k-n-o-w. It's a good sign that South Carolina's tax dollars aren't being used for the right purpose. Aside from that, companis using blogs to get feedback is a innovative method of conducting research.

It's also interesting that Tim called Sam on his "know" snafu, then he himself misspelled "companies." And Dan's last sentence makes my brain bleed.

This was an interesting blog. I agree that blogs are good for companies to use because as stated, they are "human" and many people can relate to them. People want to see the companies they trust on their level, and blogging is a great way to communicate and seem well connected to consumers.

My question is why would a company have a blog if it did not bother to monitor it? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of setting it up?

Nice blog, yes everybody is doing "it" (blogging)! While most blogs are seemingly pointless and a waste of internet space it is refreshing to read one that actaully has a purpose! Great point Juliet R.

sure i guess its fine for whatever reason. i guess my problem is i never really understood the point of blogs they just seem more for the act of pointless banter. is it not the same as a forum just less specific? but sure good job dr. carl you single handedly changed the face of the internet. thats just the viewpoint of this fellow

Okay, first of all I am not exactly sure what a blog is but I can say that I agree that it is technically updated and can be a quick way for a corporation to share information. It can benefit a company and I also agree that a blog can connect employees and build the morale of the internal culture. But I still do not understand the deal with blogging, I don't see the purpose or importance when it comes to blogging with personal friends? Just my opinion, does it really matter?

I think the idea of company blogging is a good idea, but I believe speaking to people face to face is more effective. Also if an employee is writing negative comments I don't see how that would benefit the company. However, I think using blogging as an, "internal newsletter" would be an excellent idea to keep the employees informed about what is going on.

I agree with this article. I do think that blogging is a huge essential to have in order to build one's business and the people that help make up that business. Like she stated in the last sentence, "blogging can benefit a corporation both culturally as well as financially".

I found this article very interesting. I did not know that companies actually used blogs, I just thought it was something middle-schoolers and High schoolers did. I agree with how you state that a blog could be a newsletter for a company, seeing as how most everyone is online now, and its just easier than using paper which can easily get tossed away.

I actually found this article some-what interesting. I did not know that companies used blogs to appeal to their employees I personally thought a face to face approach would work out better. This approach would be most effective if all the employees kept up with the blog and actually responded to it. This can be something beneficial for other companies to pursue. So blogging is a good idea.

I found this article very interesting. I did not know that companies actually used blogs, i thought that blogs were just for people that wanted to write about there day and what they thought about different things. I think it is a great idea to write about what is going on within the complany because this way everyone has an equal chance of knowing what exactly is going on. This is a way of knowing that everyone has recieved the information and that no employee has been left out.

The use of blogs for companies I find is quite demoralizing. The fact that employees are able to establish more of a relationship with the company itself through the use of technology is quite rediculous. It seems that now adays individuals have more of a relationship with the internet then they do with others around them. The true nature of a person gets lost between the post and takes away from the actual message itself. There is only so much one can take from something typed onto a computer, actual face to face interaction is needed.

I agree that blogging can offer benefits if used correctly. It provides an avenue for customers to respond to the company and their products or actions. If the replies are made to the post it shows a commitment by the company to their customers. Blogs can offer serve as a way for employees to communicate in a way that is not as intimidating as a companywide memo.

I thought it was in interesting blog, but I always thought blogging was for people who had no life. Reading this I feel that blogging for companies could make it or break it. If employees are responding to the blog about the company the comments could negative, and could destroy the company if clients are reading the blogs. If companies what to blog they need to make it so only employees can read and comment, and not for the whole world to see.

Reading this reminds me of the first time I saw the website for the company that I work for. I remember how just reading the employee site made me feel more connected to the company so I can easily see how being able to interact with that medium would be even more beneficial to myself as the employee. It was interesting reading about the underlying benefits of having a blog for the company itself that I never would have thought of.

I agree with most everyone here when they say that this was a well written, informative blog. At the same time, I also agree with Shannon Gentry a lot. When I start to work at a company, I want to feel as if I am a part of it; I want to feel as if I am needed there. In order to feel this way, I need face-to-face interaction with my supervisors and managers. If the only feedback that I am getting is over a blog, how is that supposed to make me, as an employee, feel needed. Also, half the time I dont fully read a blog, I skim it. With face-to-face interaction, I am being forced to listen to everything. I think the only benificial use of company blogs would be to keep the consumers informed, not the employees.

Blogging is a useful tool when it comes to Companies, especially large ones. Since large companies don't have chances for all the employees to voice their opinion, blogging gives them a slight ray of hope that they might one day be heard. Blogging is a good way to see what the employees of your company really think about it.

Clearly, as you have demonstrated, it is very effective in being heard; and therby educating others; in your case companies. I think I'll start my own blog!

While reading your blog i did believe that blogs were just used for teenagers to post their pictures and favorite things. I never thought that companies would use it as a tool and should be monitered if employees are asked to use it. This could really be useful and be a good benefit to large companies and a great way to communicate . I think that this forum was very well written and really gets the reader to understand the authors point of view.

Its nice to see that blgging is being used for productivity reason and not just being used to spread internet gossip. In todays day and age we are always finding new ways to share information and blogging seem to be a good way not only to do that but to also allow users to leave feedback to other readers.

I think that blogging has both its advantages and disadvantages. It can potentially turn customers off if many of the blogs for companies are negative. No customer wants a company that is perceived negatively by many people. However, a benefit is the marketing tactics. If the blogs are positive, its a great way to get ones company out there to the public and maintain a large scale of clients. It can also produce positive bloggers and can help the company expand. I agree with Dr. Carl in that blogging can be a great way to get co-workers connected, and create positive energy between one another. I love blogging, and I think it can be effective no matter what. It just depends on a persons preference whether their blog will be positive or negative.

I have never payed much attention to blogs before this article. I always discredited their information thinking that they were just personal opinions, but this showed that blogs could be researched and contain facts. When put into the perspective of consumer/producer, blogs are a good way to learn about products before buying them, and for producers to get feedback.

I really enjoyed this blog. I think it is a good idea for comapnies to blog. But even though it is a good way for a company to get feedback it can also have a negative effect. For example if customers see comments posted that make the company look bad. Interesting blog, cant wait to read more!

I think that this is a good articles. Blogs could be very beneficial for any company as long as they are persuasive. If the blogs are not attracting more consumers or customers, then, they really aren't helping the company. As far as being used in house, I believe that blogs are a good way for associates or co-workers to communicate.

I have never really been blogging before but it sounds like it can be very benifical to a company and what they stand for. All types of critisisim are good to know weather they be good or bad. If someone told you that you were good at something and you really werent, that could be either really dangerous or embarrassing. If a company really wants to know weather they are doing a good job or not then all types of comments should be taken in effect. Not everyone will agree with what one has to say about a topic but that is what leaves room for constuction and for a better product or future.

I think blogs used by companies sends a message to their consumers that the company itself is confident enough that they are open to consumer-producer interaction. Not only would the company be forced to answer truthfully to viewers posting messages or questions, but they would also be under the microscope of any viewer casually reading up on the company. A company with a blog sends a message that they have nothing to hide and are confident enough in their product that nothing could be exposed to potentially ruin their reputation.

wow. This article/blog..was very informative. I had absolutely no idea that there was such a thing as a corporate blog. I like many other people thought that blogs were just a social thing that people do to put their business all over the internet. Well from reading the article, I believe that organizational identification is something that employees of companies should have, because it shows a knowledge as well as a compatibility with your job. You should know what kind of company you are working for many reason such as to possibly not find out after youve lost your job that you are working for an Enron type of company. Very informative, Ive learned two new things from reading this.

I too agree that corporate blogging can be beneficial. I think its a good way for people to communicate more freely, I think that people tend to be more open when communicating through methods other than speaking face to face. Its also a good way to reach a wider range of people that you wouldnt normally communicate with in the first place. The best simili i can think of would be that its kind of like a corporate facebook or myspace.

This article does explain about how helpful a blogging system can be. Blogging is almost like a modern day suggestion box. The suggestions can actually help out to make the work place more comfortable and enjoyable. The comments can usually be made anonymously however, so I do not see how people would use it for anything but criticism. It may do more harm than good, because after a while there would be too many complaints that would never get answered.

I have always had the perception that blogging was just useless ramblings of people that live on the internet. This article sheds light on ways that corporate blogging can actually help a company to improve their image as well as their personability with the public. It also can keep the public informed on current issues within the company and answer any questions or critcism posed on the company. Blogging is only becoming a bigger comodity for corporations and individuals and can be a great thing if taken in the right direction.

This article has provided me with a better understanding of what blogging is and what it can be used for. I think it is a good idea to use blogging within a company to keep people updated and to help them be better at their jobs. I like the idea of each company having blog policies. I think that blogging can be a good tool to work with inside of the company and also find out what the postive and negatives are directly from the consumer. Which could help them produce a better product for the consumer and help make the company more profit. It made me more clear on how helpful blogging can be with companies and showed me things it can help with that i never even thought about. Blogging can be a helpful tool and i think companies should start using them more.

I never knew blogging could be used for a purpose. Most of the blogging I have seen is when teenagers are complainging or arguing about something. Corporate blogging is defianetly beneficial. This article is interesting saying that blogging is evolving and that it can even be helpful. But I really don't know if blogging seems like it would be fit for corporate life. May I just say, reading this blog made my head hurt. The writer talked in circles, but the idea of corporate blogging is quite interesting. The proposal of corporate blogging could be very beneficial in the business world. It seems like a great way to communicate within and outside the company. On the other hand, someone should be in charge for monitoring the blogs. Even though the scheme of corporate blogs is a good thing, they are faced with huge risk. The internet world is insane these days, there is no telling what direction things will take in the future.

This is a really good blog that makes many good points on company blogging, however, I don't know many companies that do blogging. Many people say that they do not know what a blog is. If you don’t know then maybe I can give a definition. A blog is a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page. When it pertains to a particular company a blog can be very beneficial. This is because the company can see the suggestions their employers make and try to accommodate them. There may also be people who are afraid to speak face to face; therefore blogging is way of expressing their feelings in a less stressful manner. In its entirety, if the blog is used for the right reasons, the blog can be very helpful to the development of a company.

Ah, commenting for the sake of commenting and not actually putting coherent sentences into it. Gotta love us... Blogging almost seems like the newest way to netowrk these days, and it may or may not build a better company morale or closeness, but what about when all the networking is built up over the internet? Will it really help people to boost morale when all their work buddies are online? wouldn't people be more apt to build a network face to face? I realize that with the ease and appeal, this may seem like a preposterous idea, because it's just that, easy. Companies spend more time working on boosting morale, and on their employees' happiness through use of the internet, but what does that say about us as a people? That we would rather rely mostly on the internet to know what's going on? It seems that more and more, companies aren't represented by people; rather computer or television screens.

I also believe blogging is the future. It is a great way for companies to reach out and for consumers and future buisness partners to look in. Blogging makes it less intimidating for someone to give honest feedback about a company and vice versa.I believe people are generally nosy. Thats what made blogging popular in the first place. Its a great communication tool and gives employees a new sense of belonging in the work place. Its about time there was another purpose for blogging besides letting the public know what Brittany Spears ate for breakfast or something like that.

It seems that blogs have become quite a good way for folks to communicate. I personally don't have time to read and respond to blogs very often, but if it was something I had to do for work I would of course be more involved. I think it's a good way for a company to adapt to the ever changing technology that people are using in their personal lives.
