Comments for Advanced Organizational Communication Blog

I also am an avid bicycle fan, and the author of Bicycle Fever book about Peoria bicycle races from 1890 to 1990 and the evolution of bicycle technology.
I feel the CEO must be the blogger, and this is a good way to communicate the generally vague and misunderstood, even ignored Mission Statement, etc.
In some cases, corporate blogs can destroy counter-productive corporate culture bulwarks (think IBM and how the bureaucracy ruined their success in PCs).

P.S. John Cass is a friend, a blog ally, of mine. I suggest you look at Jim Estill blog CEO Blog - Time Leadership. He is CEO of SYNNEX ltd. Canada, a $3 billion company and a fan of Vaspers the Grate.
He has simple, humble, sincere blog that shares his vision in a highly palatable manner.
I also suggest as politely as I know how that you consider killing the Haloscan comment service. I find it annoying to have a window pop up for comments.
Plus, I cannot use my browser edit tools to Copy and Paste my comments, which often become the nucleus for my next post on my own blogology blog.
Jim Estill suggested I kill Word Verification, since I already used Comment Moderation w/Delayed Posting and Email Notification of new comments awaiting approval. So I agreed, thanked him, and did so.
:^)

Organizational identification is accomplished within a company when members of that company take the characteristics of the organization including its values, beliefs, rites and culture and make them their own. I agree with this definition to an extent. Tim Jackson may love the culture of Masi bikes since he has been riding for a long period of time but he might not be prone to the values or rites that the company withstands. If his bikes were made through extensive child labor for 3 pennies a day, or had a high accident rating I don't think he would be so gung ho about Masi bikes. On the other hand he might not care concidering some people would do anything to make the big bucks.
P.S. - I hate blogging.

Wonderful job! You relayed the information in a way I could more clearly depict by telling me about Tim and his love of Masi bikes.

I for one think its great for companies to have blogging, among other things, to get involved with. Technology is advancing and that's cool but I see blogging as a thing for common people, and not for the corporate world. Yes, it's great that companies have blogging but who honestly has the time to go on the computer and post a blog, especially if one has a family. All in all, I think the corporate world should stay in the office, and out of the internet.

I liked reading your information about blogging, I personally don't like it, but if it is what the business world needs to do then i say let them do it. However, I do think it is more business like to stay out of the blogs and deal with issues in the office, the "grown up" way.

I normally associate blogging with internet sites such as myspace.com. I think the idea of cooperate blogging is a good gesture, but I'm lost as to what it would bring to the company. It's fun and cute, but that's about it.

Well, I really don't blog, but after reading this article, I can understand why it can be important for companies. People can post ideas about certain issues that probably couldn't be said during a meeting or that they just didn't have the time to speak about. I think company blogging can come in handy for business, but social wise I think its just a waste of time.

I think this shows how communication is constantly evolving. By using blogs organizations have the ability to reach a mass number of people instantly in what appears to be professional press releases. Also it allows businesses to appear as modern as possible.

I am not very familiar with blogs but I can understand how they could be very helpful for businesses and other large communities. I think blogs are a prime example of modern communication and the way people are changing the way they communicate.

Before reading this I didn't even realize that blogs were used in business communities. Well written and with good references, this article opened my eyes to the fact that blogging can benefit communities. I always used to just think blogs were annoying and pointless but this one showed me the other end of the spectrum.

Blogging in organizational companies really surprises me. I honestly only thought it was something on myspace or xanga or something but when I actually think about it, it is a GREAT way to express yourself about a particular thing. Especially when whatever it is you are expressing is located somewhere that only the ones who read it are interested in it as well, it's a great way of sharing and exchanging ideas and such. Great job.

I think corporate identity is an important topic to consider when blogging for a corporation or for the success of the business in general. And I think if someone can identify with a vocation personally, that will bring them the greatest success in the career, like Tim.

Personally, I would rather not use a blog to talk to people in my business. I would rather talk with them face-to-face. Yet I understand that it is an easy way to connect to a mass number of people within the organization. Blogging allows for people to be open about anything-could it cause a gossip problem?-and it also is a good way for people to interact with things other than work-related material. Blogging has its good and bad points. As long as it stays work-related and stays on task, then perhaps its not so bad.

I think blogging is a good way to communicate within big businesses. Blogging allows people to say what they really feel, and maybe that is a good thing. The only thing bad about blogging is that you miss that face to face conversations. (Nonverbal Communication)

Well, I can agree with this article. I blog, and I know companies use blogs to get feedback from users and viewers about their product. Blogging only adds another dimesion of communictaion between the seller and the buyer.

I think that it is great for companies to have blogging because our technology has evolved so much. Having the identity of your company is a great way to show your values, beliefs, rites, and culture of an organization.

I have not read many blogs and am therefor not very familiar with blogging. But, after reading this, i agree that corporate blogging could really help a business, especially large companies. I think it's a very up-to-date way of communicating. The means of communication are changing and evolving technologically and this is a very good example of that! Great blog!

I am not a huge fan of blogging, but i would agree that it could help large companys. It is another way of communication and could possible be usful, but it could also get some people into trouble. Also, i would agree and say that it might take the personalizm out of conversations.

I would rather talk with them face-to-face, as opposed to conversing with them through a blog. I understand it is a simple way to communicate and contact with a large number of people, but it's really not my style. I believe blogging can be both positive and negative, depending on if the people keep it work related, or not. I suppose it can work for certain people, and not for others.

I don't have much experience with blogging but I can see from the blurb about blogging, what a success it can be. Especially for people with specific interests like bicycling. It seems like a great networking tool to find others that have similar interests. I think it is going to become even larger than it already is since the internet has become so important just recently. If I were to start my own business or I had a specific interest where I wanted to find others with the same interest, I would definitely start a blog!

I do not know much about bloging but I thought it was more of an online journal. So having a blog would be a personal opinon or your own works of writing. If companies did this it would give a lot of opionons or cause people to be unsure of what information is true and untrue about a company?

While blogs may be beneficial to companies i feel that the best way to do buisness is face to face. When i order something online there is a sence of doubt that my information will remain private and that my order will be handled carefully. If blogs are becoming as neccesary to companies as this article says they are than i am scared for a buisness world that communicates behind the screens of computers. In the same sence one should master the skill of creating "blogs" and capitalize on the industry.

I may have blogged once in my life. I believe it was on Myspace.com and it was about a whole lot of nothing. However I do feel blogging in the work place could be a good idea. It would be a way for people to express their feelings without having to track down someone to voice their concerns to.

I feel that blogging can have a good impact because it would give people the opportunity to express their opinions and could get others motivated, as long as they have taken in the values, rites, and culture as the blog stated. However, if they do not like their job, this could backfire. I have never written a blog so maybe this is why i don't see the point but I guess to each his own. I will stick to emails.

Internal blogging combined with external blogging, rss aggregators and social tagging are all important tools which enable the team to organize information efficiently to insure that the data is activated and distributed to the right people at the right time. From this angle blogging helps companies cope with challenges like complex environments, gathering and activation of information and efficient, up-to-date decision-making for various team efforts.
