Hey Courtney...
I read your arrtcie..I think your perspective on "queerface" is really interesting. I actually forwarded it to a friend of mines and we discussed your POV. I think it was very enlighting within the context of entertainment because of the prevelenace of the lack of minority or "other" faces in entertainment (starting with them even being written about or more, realistically portrayed in the media). So often this argument is trivialized by comparing to the civil rights movement, versus taking the real issues head on. Although this article was succint it completely avoided this common mishap and appropriated the right facts to make a necessary point.
I wanted to also note that the ads for the "L" word, although I've never seen the show are so ironic. You have all of the super glam, feminine women - who in hindsight are not totally representative of the lesbian community - and at the end of the day appear to be more of a concoction of the white male hetero fantasy (despite Showtime's committement to this audience in programming).
