How does your idea differ from the annual book fair in Harlem? You might want to stress that point in your proposal. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I can get you in touch with some authors once everything is a go.

Gravatar Thanks for the info Berry. I want to make this idea much more personal...stressing the "unknown author" more than the established one. I also want to make writers and writing a more communbal enterprise, being that writing is such a solitary careerpath, its hard for writers to sometimes come together as a community. Thanks for the input!

Gravatar This sounds like an excellent idea...

I hope you make it happen. Networking is key, and I know that NYC has long established women of color organizations that focus around arts/writings/organizing etc you it would be a great place to start like at a Sisterfire, Incite/NYC, Women of Color Think Tank, etc.

It would be wonderful to see it happen, so definitely woman, go for it!

Gravatar Just picked this flier up at an unadvertised literary event I attended last night:
upsouthinternationalbookfestival.com

The event I attended was called the Harlem Week Literary Festival at 449 LA which is 449 Lenox Avenue (across from the mickey d's at 132nd) Nice space but noisy. Today they have events from 2-4, 4-6, 6-7 (African Voices), and 7 until Harlem Artists Showcase.
