I'm with ya! It took until my third hand-knit sweater to finally realize that hey, if I'm making the sweater, it doesn't have to fit like every bit of store bought clothing: tight around the hips, loose in the waist. Once I figured out how to adjust the waist shaping to actually fit me it was like a miracle. (That sweater, of course, pills like a mofo, thus proving that you can't have it all.)
