isn't the problem with the carlin memo is that it's not, as conservatives are calling it, a "study", but rather a cut-and-paste job from a bunch of global warming denying web sites? i care less about what carlin's phd is in then the fact that this crap is posing an empirical analysis of the issue.
if someone with an econ phd could come up with a rigorous study questioning some bit of orthdoxy in climatology, more power to them! i don't care about the author. it's the content that seems the most suspect.
The "ad hom" is sort of a straw man...
