I have been a fan of tampopo for a very long time too. We love the potato salad and simple dishes like omu rice. The nigiri sushi items are like you say, not great but I do like their hokkaido chiraishi especially at the end of the year when seafoods are at their best in Japan. But our all time favourite item there is their scoop short cake, I ordered a whole cake for my daughter's birthday party last year and it was a hit with my friends.
I prefer Tampopo also coz they serve Jap rice unlike so many Jap Rstnt that served Thai rice & expensive too.
(SHIN KUSHIYA) Horrible service at the Suntec Branch. No one came to pull out a chair for me to sit & the male service staff remove my tray even before I finish my fruits. WILL NOT VISIT AGAIN!!!
