Married a gamer, was converted and subsequently have been raising two gamers.
I don't know if there's a Video Games Live show coming to our area but after your report, we'll definitely be looking for one.

My husband is a gamer and I used to poo poo the endeavor all the time. It was not productive and on and on. Then I started playing with him- it was fun and we really enjoyed each others company. Our almost 7 year old is learning to read and write and do math via Pokemon on the Nintendo DS. She also spends a lot of time drawing Pokemon and researching how to evolve them, so even more learning. Her sister (almost 3) can mouse and play simple games and is learning all kinds of things. I am glad I changed my mind.

there's nothing wrong with this gaming is terribly under-rated, if someone doesn't approach it with an open mind and look at the problem-solving, hand/eye/reflex stuff and commitment to something factor. shoot... i even know a couple couples that met and flourish in a healthy marriage because of their gaming springboard. passion for something is a GOOD thing. if we're going to criticize something, let it be our own negativity...
of course, i have a video-game weakness. stop showering, feeding the family, sleeping... the whole bit. but i'm happy for those who have control and can make it something beautiful.
kudos!
