Unions... as usual, I have conflicted thougths about unions. Much comes from exactly what you saod about independence and earning, mostly, what I felt was a fair wage.
I'm not so sure unions will save IT though.. they didn't save the textile workers.
You're also right about the 'superstar' analogy... no one can remain on top forever.
We can band together though, but I think our strength would come from strategically combined talents rather than any pressure we could place on management... interesting stuff this is!!

Hi, came here from landismom's link. I'm an IT person too (or at least I report into IT -- I do web stuff, part time) and the company I work for, which has always treated its people well, has started actively outsourcing IT to India. It was like a punch in the gut to me. I never took the union talk seriously but now...
