I don't think a Unitarian should say resurrected. It is interesting, though, that the original cynics and many other early philosophers reached the same conclusion. I'm pulling for you, in any case.

I'm glad that you've gotten to a place of peace about the situation, and I have to say, that's really admirable. It can be extremely difficult to deal with rejection--even if it's the passive rejection of not hearing back from them, rather than the active rejection of being interviewed and then not getting the job.

I'm right there with you on feeling "useless" due to my unemployment. I've been unemployed since 01/29. BJ (my husband was laid off a week later.

You're absolutely right on that you're experiencing the stages of grief.

It didn't help that jobs that were similar to what I did (or looked that way..) paid 1/3 of what I made. That's a jolt for you.

I'm so thankful (acceptance) that we had lots of savings and I got a good severance package, and now the COBRA stimulus... otherwise, we'd be destitute.

I feel so much for people that lost their jobs that weren't as blessed as we are. I can't even watch news shows anymore because it just kills me.

Hang in there CA. I'll keep you and the Mrs. in my thoughts.

Thank you for putting things in perspective for me. Due to downsizing, my employer let me go on September 11 2008. I am a secretary, and as you correctly stated, there are many more applicants than jobs available. My job interviews never appeared despite registering with numerous agencies and answering tons of job postings on the Career Boards. Things got worse - and after perusing your blog, I saw that you applied the 5 stages of grief (I read that book when my husband died 5 years ago)to your loss of employment. If I look back at the last 8 months in my own life, applying those stages really makes things clear.

I have gone through my savings, have no insurance and am now struggling to begin a new career as a caregiver, which pays zilch but perhaps rewards in a different way. I thank you for your post - it helped me greatly
