i have O- blood too and have felt compelled many times to donate, but every time i've attempted it, i've failed--my blood clots halfway through or my veins collapse, the nurses wiggle the needle for thirty minutes trying to find more blood, and i end up going home with bruised arms and almost no blood lost... oh well....

wiggle the needle?! hope that didn't hurt. i had the same problem too and a nurse had to sit by me to keep massaging the vein.

i try to donate every other month or so. feels good to be "giving back", don't you think?! i'm always shocked by the questions they have to ask every time, such as: "have you ever slept with a man who has slept with another man for money or drugs?" WTF?!

or something like that - i don't remember exactly but i remember it was humorously (though understandably) specific about the date and place
