Gravatar Amen, thanks for the great post! I would think that Luther would vomit if he were alive to see the "Lutheran" church of today, let alone, the "Christian" Church of today.

Gravatar Amen CK!

Gravatar Vitriolic. Hate-mongering post. I believe the last pontiff was lauded for being a great humanitarian and one of the key people involved in the downfall of communism.

Gravatar Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, Matt!

I wholeheartedly agree with you that the Pope was and is lauded by the world, in fact the world positively adores Popery!

In fact this is yet more evidence that the Pope is of the world, and therefore the world loves him because he is of the world. The Pope sits in the very seat of anti-christ and he is received by his own, the children of his father the devil, the sinfully corrupted, unregenerate, and wicked men of this fallen world system.

Gravatar Popery: An anti-Catholic slur, no different from nigger, chink, kike, wetback, etc. You are a bigot! There's no further reasoning with you because you subscribe to a form of fundamentalistism. (it'd be a stretch to call it "christian") Good day.

Gravatar Thanks again for your enlightening contributions to the discussion of my article which aims to expose the breathtaking and spectacular wickedness of the Papacy and Roman Catholicism in general, Matt!

As the lone voice of dissent here who argues in favor of Popery you're certainly demonstrating my point much better than I'm able to do myself!

Although I do admit that you lost me a bit when you compared the word "Popery" to a racial epithet. I have thought of many, many other adjectives that lend themselves quite nicely to being equated with "Popery", but I wouldn't have thought of it in racial terms.

Yet with this in mind you do bring up an interesting point; do you know the racial demographics for all historical Popes? Hmmm...

In closing you are correct that I subscribe to a form of fundamentalism, it's called "Biblical Christianity". In fact my form of fundamentalism is in harmony with the fundamentalism of many, many historical figures. You might recognize a few of the names; Jesus Christ, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Peter, Paul, Jude, James and a host of others who believed and clearly taught that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church in contradistinction to a hell spawned demonically inspired usurper called "The Pope".

Gravatar Your definition is dependent on what one is "listening" to Thomas. If it's all the same to you I'll just continue listening to the revealed, inspired, infallible and plenary Word of God as found uniquely within the 66 books of the Holy Bible.

Gravatar Hi Thomas,

I'm not sure what wives, vitamins, or pregnancy has to do with one's rejection of the Eternal Gospel of grace. Maybe the subject matter has gotten confused, I'm not sure.

At any rate, since we seem to be a getting a bit off track, I'll take a moment to attempt a course correction -- Luther was just a sinful man in desperate need of a Savior, just like the Pope, and you, and me.

God's Holy Word as revealed uniquely within the 66 books of the Bible is the final and only authority on matters pertaining to the most pressing and eternally fundamental question facing all mankind: "How is sinful man reconciled to an absolutely Holy and Just God?"

The answer to that question as revealed in God's Word is that sinful man is saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone because of His perfect, sinless life which fully pleased the Father, His substitionary shedding of blood and subsequent death, burial, and resurrection unto life eternal by which the Father poured out His divine wrath upon the Son and then proved His total acceptance of Christ's vicarious sacrifice on behalf of those who would put their trust in Him and believe His Eternal Gospel which commands all men everywhere to repent (turn away) from their sins and turn to Christ.

Death to self.

Life everlasting unto the One True and Living God by the Son - by grace alone by faith alone in Christ alone as shown in the scriptures alone.

Eternally speaking this is the only objective truth that really matters - and if one finds Christ then he finds all the treasures of wisdom from which all other issues of day to day life proceed. However if one despises and rejects the truth of Christ then all of the vitamins and following all of the rules will amount to nothing but a "guilty sentence": and eternal condemnation in hell fire.

Soli Deo Gloria!

In Christ,
CD

Gravatar "I'm not sure what wives, vitamins, or pregnancy has to do with one's rejection of the Eternal Gospel of grace."

Yes, what does a husband and wife and their relationship have to do with the eternal Gospel of grace?

Did you really say that... You are just joking, right? Maybe you made a silly mistake and misspoke like I did in a previous response?

You really don't know how the relationship between a husband and wife reflects perfectly the eternal gospel of grace?

Even with your 66 books, you need to get reading CD!!!

Gravatar Thanks for stopping by again Thomas!

Good luck with your vitamins! Would you say that you are "born again", Thomas?

Gravatar Would you say submission is necessary for "salvation" CD?

Gravatar Dear CD?

How does the relationship between a husband and wife reflect the eternal gospel of grace?

You really don't know, do you?

Gravatar Thomas,

Submission to the Word of God and His commands is the result of being born again - being saved - not a means of apprehending salvation and obedience supernaturally flows from God's unmerited grace to those who belong to Him by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

The relationship between a husband and a wife is an earthly type of the heavenly marriage of Christ and His church, which is comprised of those who God in His sovereign grace chose before the foundations of the world to be partakers of the glory of His blessed Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Would you say that you are "born again", Thomas?

Gravatar CD,

Please understand that submission to the Word of God means submission to the LOGOS, Christ himself.

There was a tribe in Myanmar that a missionary came across in his travels. He witnessed the people bow down, sing chants and worship a tattered book. The missionary looked closely at the book and realized it was a common English Bible of that time.

No! he cried out. Don't worship the book. Worship the Son of God who has come down from heaven to take away the sins of the world.

CD, are you worshiping the book, or the LOGOS, Christ Himself?

We can only submit to God, and Christ, and the church for that matter by being "born again".

Now, I am not a rich man, so does that mean in your interpretation of scripture like Calvin's, that I have not been chosen as one of the elect?

CD, I will try to be more gentle henceforth, for I realize that you are like those lost people of Myanmar. You are bowing down to the book. A good book for sure, but the book cannot save you. Only our Lord Jesus Christ through his resurrection has the power to do that.

Gravatar Ohhhhh, I think I have understood...at first I thought you were a hardcore Calvinist.

Most likely, you are a Baptist with reformed tendencies.

I lived in Indiana for a spell...I understand the question "Are you born again?" from your perspective.

One Hoosier told me that if he did not ask that question within five minutes of meeting someone, he would confess it as a sin to God.

How many times did Jesus ask that question? And to whom?

If one takes the view that the only truth is that which is written in the Scriptures, then Christ asked the question once, and to one of the most learned men of the day. It takes a great deal of knowledge before that particular question has any meaning.

Specifically, it takes a complete surrender to the church of God. It takes a laying down of the "fundamentalism by not listening" to which Baptists with reformed tendencies cling.

It takes the grace of God. It is only through His grace that we can be "saved".

Gravatar We can only come to know the true Jesus Christ as He has revealed Himself in His Word as contained uniquely within the 66 books of the Holy Bible.

Without His objective self-revelation men are led astray by false religion and the doctrines of demons which is the predictable and sad result of all those who reject scripture.

Heresy can nearly always be traced back to corrupting God's Word or corrupting the Person of the true Jesus Christ of the Bible.

Would you say that you are "born again", Thomas?
