I think Dion will be glad when this is all over and he can go back to academia.
A real leader is generally an alpha male/female. They are wired for leadership from birth. They want to lead. They expect to lead.
Dion? Prior to the Liberal gig he'd never led, nor aspired to lead anything.
I'm sure he threw his hat in the ring for the usual reason that non-leaders do: For future positioning - to ensure a nice (comfy fur) landing when the REAL leader is chosen.
You just have to look at the sick look on Dion's face when he'd actually won the leadership race. Definitely not a man who had achieved a major goal. More like a nerd who's being goaded into asking the hottest girl in the school to dance...
Interesting point. It would definitely explain why he's let his inept advisors make many of the decisions for him.
We should all hope for Apps to win the presidency. He is over his head running Iggy's bid and would be a disaster as President. He can't even raise enough to pay off Iggy's debts. The real danger is Rae's backers who have the smarts and the wherewithal to win a general election. They've won a few before.
Here's a thought.
What happens if there isn't an election next fall?
Consider that if this scenario is as obvious to you and some media, would it not also be just as obvious as to someone like Ducept(sp?) and Layton?
And if the liberals are stuck with Dion for another year, the frustrations of the "front-runners" will only grow, and subsequently the possibility of their supporters making mischief ala the Chretien-Martin feud becomes greater.
Would this not increase the chances that the Bloc and the NDP will work to thwart any attempts to have an election in the fall?
But hey why not speculate even more, that should this occur would there be an open revolt in the liberal caucus with the far left bolts over to the NDP rather than be part of the circus created by the supporters of Rae and Iggy.
