I sat at a red light this AM and watched a Hess station employee take down the "2.XX" and put up the "3.XX" on his price sign. I wondered if they'll run out of "3" signs, and if they're already stockpiling extra "4" signs.
I have a Civic too, and I keep wishing I'd bought the hybrid.

When we lived in Portugal in 1999, gas was $4/gallon, and those who did not ride the trains and buses drove tiny cars. Still, they rarely traveled more than one hundred miles for a vacation.

We've had a gas crisis here in Georgia. All of the gas stations in my town are dry because of fucktards that decided to take more than their fair share by filling up 6 or 7 gas cans at a time. Luckily, a few of the stations limited people to $25 worth of gas, so that everyone could get some (hopefully). Price of gas yesterday in my town: $3.09
Poor people in Atlanta are getting gouged left and right. Gas is as high as $6.00 in some places.
As for SUV drivers reactions, one girl in my class yesterday started crying and demanded to be let out of class so she could go fill up the Tahoe daddy gave her for her birthday.

Gas here, N. California, was up 25 cents overnight Tuesday. It's now around $3.30 a gallon. I heard it was up another 5 cents last night but can't confirm it.

It truly is that movie "Oil Storm" in reality. Except, of course, worse because it's real.
When there is no oil to tank up trucks, what will people do for food? Especially as this is the harvest season coming up. If there is no oil for the machines, how will they get a full harvest? And what will that mean for all of us?
Without those oil platforms, many of which have disappeared, and without that major port in operation, we're in for a world of trouble beyond our individual gas prices. Not to trivialize that, of course, we filled up on Sunday to be safe, but it's going to hit us even harder later.

Here I am in Bamberg SC (you never heard of it, that's ok)--about 65 miles from Columbia SC & Augusta GA & 80 miles from Charleston looking at $3.29 a gallon at every station in town. Why? Because they are all either owned or supplied by the same Sumbitch who, along with his wife, spent yesterday spreading the rumor that he would soon be out of gas, then jacked up the price 50 cents, then another 20, then another ten (rumor has it he made $10000 at one station alone). Who is this sumbitch, you ask? My neighbor (in a town of 5000, everyone's your neighbor). May he rot in hell.
