I think you are mistaken in that it is a threat. Many Christians believe that if you have a problem with a fellow believer you should settle it personally or it should be taken before the church and settled. If the Congressman knew that these were Dobson’s people that would explain his message. I found myself criticized when I had a problem with BS during the election and that I did not go to him and settle it scripturally.
I would agree that the Federal government has no business in regulating dog fighting. I would also say neither does the state. Don’t you find it odd that people are allowed to go into the ring and beat the crap out of each other and animals are not?
people do it willingly, dogs are forced to, otherwise they get hanged or drowned. also, they don't use live kittens as bait to get people to fight.
I have some familiarity of the Scriptures involved from evangelical friends, but the voicemail seems like a threat to me. Calling up your constituents and leaving them a message warning of unnamed additional measures? Especially when they wrote but he's calling. I might be wrong.
He may also have just blown his cool, rather than plotted some malevolent threat. Been there, done that too.
