sigh
i am so saddened at the blatant illegal actions of senators that it is physically making me sick.they swore an oath to that constitution and are absolutely trashing it for what?a sorry president that lies at every word out of his mouth.
last election was my turning point.i had voted straight republican ticket since reagan but now refuse to even consider a vote for any republican.it is a nasty word in my dictionary now.it is traitors.

I believe that *most* Republican senators do have a problem with what the administration is doing. But it's an election year and they're playing politics- ie. if Bush goes down, he would end up taking the party down with him. I honestly believe that if the Times revelations had occurred a year later (Dec '06) and this hearings occurring in 2007, there would be more open opposition because the Republicans would have less to lose politically.
Of course, that makes the mistake of assuming voters are on their side on this issue... a belief that polls show to be highly dubious. I still hold out hope that something will come of this. Unfortunately, it looks more and more like the end result will be a wrist-slap for Bush, who will then make a "compromise" with Congress on the issue.
And the rest of us will get pissed all over again and the cycle continues.

Blue,
Bush IS going down, and yet they are still willing to fall in line. I think falling in line will hurt them come Nov. At least I really really hope so.

I'd love to think the Dems will gain control of Congress in Nov, but I doubt it. There's been so much incumbent-friendly gerrymandering that it will be almost impossible to defeat any of them. The Dems would have to win almost every open seat to win Congress. I put the odds of control changing at about 10%, no more.
