but as a baseline I need a candidate that knew the Iraq war was wrong from day one.
By this standard, we couldn't have voted for John Kerry in 2004.
I am willing to forgive Democrats for their spinelessness in 2002 if they have turned themselves around since then. Kerry (barely) did that, so I had no problem voting for him. The real issue with Hillary is that she still doesn't get it.
But insisting that any Dem who voted for the war is officially out of the running can make us as bad as the ultra-partisan right who insist on similarly strict litmus tests for candidates.

After the primary, when I have no choice, fine, I'll vote for a war supporter/authorizer, but until then I'll stick with someone who had the smarts to see what was coming.
