Thank you for your story so far, I look forward to more! I especially enjoy looking at your photographs. What a joy that you are able to travel FOR us who can not!
I am sad though, to see the renovation of the interior chapel. Let us hope it is "temporary" as you suggested!

I was in Lisieux in 1991-I loved it! I went to the Carmel, Les Buisonnets, the Basilica, and the Cathedral of St-Pierre. And I went to Alencon, where St. Therese was born, too....
But that 'wrecknovation' of the Carmel chapel is terrible! Why can't they leave churches alone?
Yes, Lisa-I hope it's just 'temporary'....!

I made a pilgrimage to Lisieux in March 2008 and stayed at Le 'Ermitage. I too enjoyed my stay there. Carmel was closed for renovations when I visited. I don't like what I see in the renovated Carmel chapel. The architectural plans that I have seen showed walkways in Carmel that gives a greater access than previously allowed. Was that finished when you were there? Can you post any other pictures?
Thanks for sharing. You are an excellent photographer.

I have just spent five days on retreat in Lisieux (my 16th there) and was so upset to see the alterations made to Carmel. I don't think it is a temporary measure as there are cards on sale depicting the new interior.

Mary,
Yes, I can't quite understand the renovations, either; I wonder if the nuns are happy with them.
