'Can lead to obesity and mental illness...'
Is that what happened to me? Not enough running and tree climbing? ;)

Seriously, I agree. My oldest loves to climb trees. His pants have the holes to prove it. sighs*

Gravatar But, but, but -- I LOVE bubble wrap! Popping the bubbles is so irresistably satisfying. How can bubble wrap possibly be bad???

Sorry, heh heh. I know it's a serious problem, and "overparenting" has been a recurring theme on a lot of blogs I've seen lately (including mine). I give my kids a lot of freedom, more than most of my friends seem to, and I feel it's the right thing to do. At the same time a little nagging voice inside me wonders if I'm being negligent. Or even just lazy.

Gravatar Mrsd - perhaps you should try it. We will know your perfect size and sanity by the holes in your pants....or something.

Julie - it is such a dilemma that one. We (as parents) always want to do the best for our children. Right now society's message for how to do that is to keep them away from any possible "danger". If you don't do that the message you get is that you're a bad parent...it sucks. We are ALL great parents trying to do the best for our children, we get confused about what that "best" is.

Gravatar Oh yeah, and you're right about the bubble wrap.

Gravatar Lol, crit. :)

Gravatar Well I'm definitely crazy, certifiable.

Happy mother's day!

Gravatar Happy Mother's day!!!
And that part about the single parent home situation leading to more developmental problems....*shiver* yes...definitely something that gets me going. I think Noel's doing fine, but it's hard on a kid to just depend on 1 person for EVERYTHING...
