*big hug*
Oh, god, that sounds traumatic. It'll be a nice (funny) conversational piece in a couple of years (I have one sorta like that), but damn, it's bad to deal with!
You go, strong woman!!

Yeah, it's never funny when it's happening.Unfortunately it is quite common for all kinds of people to go off their meds as soon as they feel better, when many such people should be on them for life. Kind of scary when you don't even know what you're dealing with.

Isn't it sad when the body works, but the mind doesn't? I would've freaked out!

Thanks to you for you words of support. I did get really scared, but feel mostly fine now, except for the lingering paranoia, not about him, but about 'the unknown'...and wondering whether to edit the post so that people who google N---d G-y don't turn up here...more of the paranoia.

MrsD, it's really sad, and also the fact that apart from being totally mad, he seemed like a nice young man, well educated, funny...but not in the same world as the rest of us....The other thing is about the fragility of mental health, how easily it can be unbalanced. The stats say that 1 person in 5 has some kind of mental health episode in their lives and 1 in 2 suffers some symptoms. One person in Two. Half the population.

Jay, he is exactly that kind - bi-polar and when his cycle starts on the up he feels great, and stops taking his drugs, so he continues on the upswing until it is all out of control and he is doing weird inappropriate shit. The cops claim that he is pretty well OK when he takes it, just no good when he doesn't.

Becky, I am glad I can laugh about it. I wasn't going to blog it at all, but realised that there is still some debriefing value for me in telling the story, and noticing how I feel about it. The useful thing too, is getting mental illness more out in the open for discussion and thinking...

Gravatar Oh, Crit, I'm so sorry for you and D'Arcy...and also for the young man. Mrsd is right: mental illness is so sad, even when it's also scary.

Yeah, mental health comes in handy! :)

Gravatar thanks Julie. the other thing I have got from the experience is how useless my neighbours are, except for the one across the road - the other single mum. She's the only one who came to see how I was, during the whole thing...bloody pathetic the lot of them, and then they monopolised the police officers time so that they didn't come and talk to me. Oh well, all is well now, no more signs of CNG, but still looking forward to my beloved getting here.

Gravatar Hey you!
K. SO I'm in a nosey zone *free admission*, so feel free to ignore my probing.
But...so are you dating an American? You said he's in CHicago...(which I really adore as well. It may be fav. American city, although Boston's pretty great, too.) Oh, and you should read Devil in the White City for a bit of really interesting Chicago history. I adore that book (and I'm not a history nut.) Anyways, hope you and D'arcy are rocking...
(Oh, and you can email me at b.bachmann@gmail.com if it's easier to converse in that forum, BTW)

Gravatar Ach, I'm sorry that happened. That must have been so frightening. It would have scared the heck out of me. You handled it very well by the sounds of it. I'm glad that D'Arcy took it well.

Gravatar Ah, good to know you're both safe now :) Do you play golf? You should do, then you could keep a set of clubs handy ;)
