I guess it's a bit like being a child, where you don't alwys choose your own friends, but there are some friends you have 'cos your mums are already friends...

True! I hope he settles down and becomes more comfortable with school soon. My son actually enjoyed the first half of Kindergarten. The second half, he didn't. It was a hard time for both of us.

I am hoping he settles a bit more, it's already better than the first week, thank goodness.

Gravatar I'm judging from your last comment that you now have in-house nookie! Hooray!

I'm really bad with the making-friends-with-mums-just-because-your-kids- are-friends thing. I tend to make friends with the mums who look like they're fun and then the kids can just try to get along :)

On that note, let's try to get the boys together soon!

Gravatar Oh yes there is nookie, and he's currently muttering bad tourist italian phrases in my ear, in response to the closing ceremony of the winter olympics...."emergency exit" "where is the elevator?"

It is sucky making friends with the people your kids like. The one we went to visit the other day wasn;t my kind of person at all really, so I don't know if we;ll pursue it. And yes, let's get the boys playing.

Gravatar School is a strange place for most kids. It's hard to be thrown into a situation where you aren't the centre of attention anymore. They all do strange things for the first little while, but then they settle.

I loved school, but that's because I had so many siblings that school felt like a breather from all the people!

Gravatar That is a good perspective. The thing about D'Arcy too is that he didn't go into school with a solid peer group, so that is a source of struggle for him.

Gravatar The things that kids get hung up on can be strange and funny. I never thought that way about recess...he probably would be scared to hear that teachers use the toilet, too. ;)

And when my social scene is decided my Noel's friendships, I have a hard time with that, too. I'm not too outgoing, but I make due. I am getting to be good drinking buds with one of her teachers, though...

P.S. Your beloved sounds hysterical..."bad Italian tourist phrases"...awesome!

Gravatar He's not too awestruck by the teachers, and seems to be settling a bit better now. He siad today that he played with some other kindy kids in the sandpit at lunch time, and that he was only going to hang out with the teachers on one day a week...

The beloved is great. it's fabulous having him here (as you might guess)
