Cool experiment. Give us the report on how it goes... :) (I hope it works; avocados are yummy!)

They are yummy, but it won't grow enough to fruit around here (too cold in winter, too dry all the time) a bit of a bugger. The point is for scientific discovery!

Will it work?

That, i assure you. is the thrill of scientific discovery! I'll let you know.

it does work. we did that in adelaide and it worked and now we have an avacado tree in a pot that we lug around to all our houses. Once we thought we killed it and it was just like this stick but then we left it lying around outside and it came back to life mysteriously. We should probably put it in the ground where it'd undoubtedly be healthy and happy etc. but we can't seem to leave it behind. maybe when we're rich and have that three level terrace in Surry Hills with the sunlit courtyard, etc. etc.

Gravatar Oh. My mum always had an avocado seed sprouting in a jar. Came to nowt (I grew up north of Adelaide, on the edge of the desert), but the sight of that photo gives me those kinds of shivers that you get about those kinds of childhood things.
