Oh, wow, that's quite an achievement! And looking at the picture is all to refreshing... because, as you have mentioned, we are snowed under here in the US! Wish you were coming to Illinois though! Maybe on your next visit? Hugs, and enjoy your stay here.

Thanks Angel, I will actually be in Chicago for about 17 hours, but I'm not sure where we're staying. Can you email me your phone number and we'll see if we can sort something out. Nice to see you here in Blogland!

Isn't it an amazing thing when it happens! Laura used to be like that about going underwater and then last Summer we spent a week in Brisbane, swimming every day, got a floatation device, and next thing she's pushing off the pool edge, dogpaddling across the pool and then tossing the floaties and doing it solo! Small pool but that's OK! Put her back in the pool the other day, for the first time this Summer, and she was nervous but soon got her mojo back! I like the look of that vest - where'd you get it?
So, Eugene, is that Oregon? My buddy Jodi is in Pensylvania these days and it's bloody freezing there... or well below freezing, actually. I bet Oregon is chillsome too!! Have fun with it, eh?

Sportsman's warehouse for the vest, $30. There were 2 brands, and this was the cheap one. We're in Minneapolis now and it is very cold.

Thanks Liz. I'm enjoying his achievement, it frees me up in the pool to have more fun too.

It's great that you were able to help him over the hump - amazing how one small thing can make the difference.

It's brilliantly sunny but cold in Eugene right now-you're so lucky that you missed our normal January rain. HOpe the rest of your trip was fantastic. We loved seeing you both. And yay to D for swimming :)

Jay, it is amazing, it was the best $30 we ever spent in relation to swimming I reckon.
Sara, we were lucky with the weather. The rest of the trip was OK, but I ended up with a flu just after I left you, and so spent 4 days in bed instead of having a good time. I had a great time with you though. I'm jsut about to show D some of the photos I took (not enough).

"in the summer i went swimming..."
Louden Wainwright indeed.
covered by Australian Crawl and The Band Who Knew Too Much. who sing it the way you quote it - i think louden sang "this summer i went swimming".
i was looking for the song. and you're the only person in the whole internet to quote it that way.
thanks...
