You criticize economics for not taking into account love, relationships...etc, only accounting for the amount of money one would make, but the Viscusi articles you linked don't fall to the criticism that you have made. The Viscusi articles ask this question: what additional wages does a worker command in order to take an increase risk of death? Then takes that value and imputes what the worker values his own life at.
Of course there are arguments against this method, but not the arguments made here.
