Gravatar I either ate something bad at the Thai restaurant we went to yesterday, or I have some kind of stomach virus. I mostly laid on the couch doubled up with pain starting early evening last night and now this morning I have to run to the bathroom every so often. Fun fun fun.

Dan proceeded to abuse his body with Jack Daniels last night in a party all by his lonesome to make up for me being out of commission and is a wee tad hungover this morning.

Lucy called at 12:02 to scream "Happy New Year" from her party, which was extremely noisy, lol! I turned her over to Dan so they could scream drunken "Happy New Years" to each other since I was already in bed. Nothing from Ray but then, he doesn't do that kind of thing. Actually, Ray is becoming something of a curmudgeon since he's gotten married. He dislikes loud parties and I'm betting they didn't go out at all but probably stayed home or had a few "quiet" friends over.

It's 10 am and I'm waiting to call everyone to wish them a Happy New Year once I know they are up.

Oh and my sis in NYC sent me a text message "Happy New Year Sis" that made my cell phone go off at 2:15am. yay for slow cell phone text msgs! lol

Happy New Year to you guys and it sounds like your evening was marvelous.

Gravatar Happy New Year!

We hung out at home with the kids. Surprise! We did take out, the kids had McD's because that's what make them happy.

My girls fell asleep waaay before midnight, but the boys stayed up to the very end. I felt like I needed a nap to make it to midnight. We rang in the new year and then shooed the kids off to bed so we could sack out!

This comic pretty much sums it up!

I'm telling you, the excitement never ends around here! lol

Gravatar Amber, I hope you're feeling better - what a crappy way to start the new year...I couldn't help myself, sorry. hahaha!

Ever since my bout of food poisoning on our last anniversary (remember?),I have nothing but sympathy for anyone who gets ill from restaurant food. And after watching Kitchen Nighmares and shows like that, I think it's a miracle that *more* of us aren't being poisoned! Sometimes I swear I'll never eat out again after seeing what goes on behind the scenes in so called 'good' kitchens...I got sick from food prepared in a so-called top restaurant.

I guess it's a good thing that I'm so 'optionally challenged' and can barely manage to make calls with my cell phone. *g* Laura had to make me a tiny cheat sheet which she stuck on the back of my cell, so I could pick up my messages!(how embarrassing) I shudder to think what would happen if I had to contend with texting. *shudders* LOL!!!

Gravatar Mimi, great comic! I love Adam, even though my kids are grown I still relate to 'so' many of the panels.

We were very happy that both our kids phoned us from their parties...it's nice that they thought of the old folks during the drinking and kissing at midnight. We weren't as surprised that Laura called, she's our 'caretaker' child, lol, but with Mark we're not quite so certain that he'll remember that he has parents when he's out with his friends and the evening gets wild & crazy.

Gravatar I started a post about our new years this morning but was interrupted...

we did pretty much the same thing we do every year - watched the twilight zone marathon on sci fi and ate junky foods - Sam had a few beers and I did not hehehe

we started watching a movie at some point and I fell asleep... Sam woke my up just before midnight - gave me a kiss and I bitched him out for making me sleep (he turned off all the lights) how the hell am I supposed to stay awake watching a movie with all the lights out?? haaaa

anyway... that's pretty much how new years goes for us every year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! maybe I'll actually post something myself tomorrow

Gravatar Hey Jocelyn, wishing you a terrific New Year! Here's to 2008!

Gravatar We watched hockey and New Year's shows. We toasted the New Year with a little champagne (and kiddie version for the younger set), then trotted off to bed.

With my MIL and mother here, a kiddie sleepover and a teenager out and about, it was pretty low-key.

The reminiscing sounds nice though.

Happy New Year!

Gravatar kitty, I'm worse than you. I've caught myself nodding off sitting on the couch with all the lights on. I'm sure if Allan gently pushed me with one finger, I would fall over like a cheap drunk. haaa! But turning off the lights? That's just making it UMPOSSIBLE to stay awake! No Fair, Sam!!

Brian, thanks and the same to you.

Elizabeth, you really had a full house. I hafta say that I enjoy the quiet evenings the two of us share by ourselves now, over the parties that we used to have in previous years. And with the kids grown and out of the house, well that's just a bonus! LOL

Gravatar oh believe me I have fallen asleep with all the lights on... even the over head light that I ALWAYS complain shines right in my eyes when I recline my chair!!

plus the tv blaring...

of course I've been known to nod off while eating my lunch too - which may be why they always say to keep your elbows off the table - I'll be sitting there resting my head on my hand, watching the last of whatever lunch time show I have on and the next thing I know I'm falling asleep

of course if I wake up in the middle of the night and allow a single thought to enter my mind I'll be up for hours... bothered by the tiniest light, sound, smell - you name it and it'll keep me up once I've had about 4 hours of sleep
