No seriously...the lyrics to the song are great "we can make it together", I think they're perfect. And the rings...awwww, sweet.
Happy Anniversary Jocelyn & Allan!
Be proud of your accomplishment...after the romance fades, the real work begins!

I think the song is adorable! I've never heard it before, either.
You said: do I have a perfect marriage?
Well, it depends on what you think is "perfect". From what you described here, sounds like you guys did outstanding and if that's not "perfect", what is, anyway? Is anything? I don't think so.
So Happy Anniversary Allan and Jocelyn! May you have many, many more. {{{{hugs}}}

Mimi, you can get up now. Even when that song was current nobody knew it; I had to go and buy the sheet music so the band could play it for 'our dance' at our wedding. And we sure NEVER hear it when we're out. LOL
You are soo right about the hard work part of marriage. I could have written tons more about the medal Allan deserves for hanging in with a migraineur. It's really only during the past five or so years that we've brought them under better control, before then he often had two jobs. After working at the office all day he would come home to find me just barely functional, so he would have to cook, take care of the kids and deal with a wife who literally couldn't bear to be touched.
Or about the problems we suffered through with Laura during her teenaged years. Yeah, if we didn't kill her or each other at some point when she was around 17 it was because the dog was still alive. Srsly. We walked that dog every night after dinner and talked and talked and talked. At least I did...rehashing the same issues over and over again. And Allan at least pretended to listen. Over and over again. *g* Hard work indeed.
Thanks for the H.A wishes. {hugs}
Amber, that's us...adorable. The song sounded quite a bit more sophisticated when it was sung by 'just' Steve & Eydie, but like I said I can't even find that version on their web site...maybe I dreamed the whole thing along with my caning! hehehe
What would be *perfect*? Perfection is just an idea. Something to strive towards. Like world peace. *G*
Certainly being more in tune sexually would help enormously. I take that back...the desire to 'try' and work out our problems would help enormously...but since some of this is health related I feel guilty when I complain. Sooo...
Allan sees the doctor on Friday and we're hoping she'll reduce or even eliminate some of the heart medications completely. Perhaps there will be a change in his libido then. (said she hopefully)
Thank you for the good wishes. {{hugs}}

I'm going to keep that tip about the dog in mind for when mine are teenagers...of course it may be a different dog because the one we have now is so fat she might not make it that long! I guess that means my kids are not driving me crazy enough?! lol

wellllllllll THAT song is A LOT more... PLEASANT than OUR wedding song
anyway I think so many people get divorced because they don't understand how much work marriage is - I think that is also why so many people never manage to find someone to marry - they think when it's right it will just flowwwww and be smooth and wonderful all the time
before my sister and her husband split up, she actually said something like that to me once... she said marriage shouldn't be so much work... it should just... WORK!
I laughed and laughed
I told her 'marriage is like a 12 step program - it works if you work it!!'

No, everyone doesn't get EVERYTHING.
But as Motel says, "even a poor tailor is entitled to some happiness!"

kitty, so...what was your wedding song. I'm almost afraid to ask. *g*
I love your comparison of marriage to a 12 step program! Will I be in recovery at the end? LOL!
Srsly though, when my kids were little and I was driving them to play at some little friend's house I can't count how many of the parents were either divorced or separated. They had usually been married around five years and just found it too difficult or there were money issues or the 'magic' was gone or whatever. I always thought - did they imagine they would wake up every day and think their partner was the best thing since sliced bread, because that's pretty unrealistic. I don't care who you are, some days we all look over at our beloved one and think..."WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!!!" The catch is to know that tomorrow (or the day after) will be better and keep plugging away.
Brian, wow you're sounding a bit cynical today with that quote. Or maybe I sounded unhappy? I didn't mean to.
Sorry about the YouTube, can you watch it at home?

I'm not sure any of us will ever recover hehehe
I read a quote one time that I thought was pretty wise - I can't remember it exactly right now and can't find it - but it was something like 'the key to marriage is for both of you to never fall out of love at the same time'
anyway - OUR wedding song was 'like suicide' by a band called soundgarden

(Nobody asked me *grins*) BUT!
Our song (from my perspective if not Dan's) is the Baby's "Isn't It Time".

Although I found an AWESOME cover done more recently here:

That made me cry. This song always makes me cry; I used to listen to it all the time while trying not to fall in love with Dan. Heh.
Obviously, I failed.
Jesus, I'm still crying; I'm such a sap today!
Dan's song for us is Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love". It came on the radio during one of our marathon fucking sessions back when we were dating and he said, "That's IT! That's our song!" Romantic, eh? ;-P hehehe

not long after we got together (maybe a year) I made him a mixed tape (because I'm a dork like that) - I found the tape in a box recently and THAT is the second song on it *GAG*
and yes WHERE is that Oper post? where oh where can it be?
