Totally agree with you on that one, Jocelyn. Do it at home...don't put me in a position where I have to explain something like that to my child...kids should be kids and this sort of stuff does not belong in their world...it will not teach them tolerance...it will not teach them that we are all different.
And to quote this brilliant specimen:
"Maltby -- who lives on state benefits and got engaged in November -- said her choice of lifestyle might seem unusual but was harmless.
"I am a pet," she told the Daily Mail. "I generally act animal-like and I lead a really easy life. I don't cook or clean and I don't go anywhere without Dani. It might seem strange but it makes us both happy. It's my culture and my choice. It isn't hurting anyone."
Oh for crying out loud...what a lame fucking arguement. It's her culture? What the fuck culture is that?
Bah, just stupid!

well when I read "Pet" girl kicked off bus for wearing leash - I assumed the 'girl' was a child and the 'bus' was a school bus - and I thought 'some wacko is making a little girl where a leash to school and all anyone did was kick her off the bus?!!' haaaa
knowing that the girl was an adult makes me feel a little better - for her anyway

Like Kitty, I thought it was a child! So I'm relieved they are adults!
And I don't care if people want to dress up in public however they please as long as they are dressed, lol! If little kids with me wanted to know what they were doing, I'd just say they are playing a game. Which of course is the truth, no matter what they say about it.
God knows it would be easier to deal with them than when Lucy said very loudly about a *little person* we stood in line with at the store, "Mommy, why is that person so little? IS THAT A KID OR A GROWN UP? WHAT IS THAT WHAT IS THAT WHAT IS THAT?". God. O_o
And in the doctor's office, waiting to take her little brother in to be seen and a HUGE woman who took one entire waiting COUCH sat down and Lucy stared big-eyed and I was like, please god, don't say anything, please...but she did. "MOMMY! Why is that lady so FAT!? MOMMY!!! Look at that FAT LADY! Look at her arms! Look at her-" and I yanked Lucy up and marched her to the bathroom where we had yet another conversation about being polite and never discussing other people's appearances. At least, not in front of them, ahahaha
Which prompted a "why can't we discuss their appearances" and which I probably replied "Because I SAID SO!"
ahahaha

Maybe I shouldn't have said 'try explaining this to your kids' when what I really was going for was more - don't force your kink on the general public in a totally unnecessary manner. I agree that the bus driver acted like a complete jerk in the first place, and I suspect had a grudge against Goth kids in general, but having said that, we all know that kink gets a bad enough rep without little twits like this making little speeches and helping to convince people that we're all weirdos. Would it really have hurt them to have put the leash away until they went home?

Mimi, if I try to be charitable, she's quite young still, and part of her age and culture is to push the boundaries, yes? Well she did a pretty good job here. I just it's unfair to force other people to become part of your kink.
kitty, when my kids were toddlers I did have them on leashes so they couldn't wander away...but the leash went around their body, not their necks. LOL!
Amber, oh yeah, the *discussions* about not making personal remarks about a person's personal appearance. *sigh* The good old days.

oh I'm all for toddler leashes!! when my sister still lived here I would just about have a heart attack every time she'd visit because my house is about one car length off a very busy road road
she would just let my niece free in the parking lot and assume she'd do what she was supposed to - which was stay near one of us and don't go out past the car
they moved a month before her 3rd birthday - how well do 3 year olds pay attention to that sort of stuff?
and if I winced or said anything she would get all pissy with me and accuse me of accusing her of being a bad mother haaaa
we had a yard sale one year in my mother's front yard (maybe 3 car length off the same road) and all the kids were running free in the yard - there's no fence or anything - the only thing blocking them from the parking lot and the road was a row of tables that they could easily walk under - if one of us needed to chase them down it was a little more of a procedure for us to get out there
after about an hour I went inside and stayed there - I was a nervous wreck knowing that if we turned our heads for 2 seconds one of the kids could have easily been squashed - I sure as hell didn't want to have to see it!!
I know you get less nervous when you have kids - but still... if it was up to me all 3 kids would have been on leads, hooked to the clothes line!!

p.s. I personally don't see much difference between a leash and a neck tie
and I don't care how you accessorize - as long as you're wearing SOMETHING to keep from being naked
and even that is just a cultural hang up with our supposedly 'civilized' society - tribal people in the jungle walk around with their junk hanging out all the time and nobody bats an eye
it's all what you're used to

I don't think they should have put on this display.
However, the bus driver has no right to not let them on the bus. The admission of, "I'm a pet," in no way limits her rights as a human being. The driver could clearly see that she was a human and not a canine.
They should have just refused to get off of the bus and moved in and sat down.
