Aren't neoconservatives former Democrats that want to use the military to reorder the world?

"In late 1979 Jeanne Kirkpatrick began a migration of neoconservatives from their traditional base in the U.S. Democratic Party over to the U.S. Republican Party..."

So aren't "Conservatives" attacking themselves in a way.

Gravatar Hasn't Tweety learned anything yet?

You can't slap the stupid out of these people.

Gravatar What happened to Tweety thinking Bush is such a great guy and why does everybody hate Bush? Now he's falling all over himself trying to distance himself and "traditional conservatives" from Bush and the Neocons. Where were these "traditional conservatives" before the Iraq war? They were all cheering the chimp on. Give me a fucking break.

Gravatar Yea man, I kept saying that 3 years ago.

It's the crazy church people they took over the Republicans party.

They suck.

Gravatar I would however like to attack her flanks and invade her capital city.

Gravatar Wow! He slammed her big time.

Gravatar Geez, you guys are such suckers.

The right wing agenda is to disassociate Bush from "traditional conservativism." Some bloggers and columnists are calling hims a "liberal Republican" or some such garbage. It isn't about rejecting the neo-cons, but saving their own asses. They will be glad to treat us once again to a radical in moderate dress, just as they originally presented Bush.

Tweety is giving them cover, citing the great sages Buckley and Ford.

If Buckley was such a man of principle, why did he wait until after we were clearly losing to denounce the war? Same with Ford, asking that his comments be released posthumously. We are talking about WAR, the most serious decision a nation can make. The wise old men of the party stood silent, supposedly with deep reservations, and then savage the young leader once the inevitable has happened.

IF BUCKLEY AND FORD AND THE REST OF THE CONSERVATIVE SAGES GAVE A FLYING F#CK ABOUT THIS COUNTRY, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ON MY TELEVISION, INSEAD OF SEAN HANNITY 24-7.

Tweety is helping these dinosaurs try to save their party, and Crooks and Liars is glad to lend a hand.

Democrats always get played in the end.

Gravatar These wing nuts never stop - constant and forever disparaging anyone who disagrees with their war profiteering ways. They are all about marginalizing anyone who stands in their way - IMPEACH NOW!!

And, I say shame on Ford for not speaking out while he was alive - why wait? What a weenie. And let's not forget Ford pardoned a rethuglican criminal president.

Gravatar Don, I hear you bud.

I always quote one simple rule of thumb.

If a person is not making over $200,000 per year, they have no business voting Republican.

Gravatar I served in the US Army in Germany in the seventies. The German citizens used to say that they did not know that the Nazis were creamating Jews over the hill over there... BUT AT THE SAME TIME they would say that their homes were safe from the local riff-raff when the Nazis were in power. THEY ENABLED HITLER... just like all these back-peddling REPUGS enabled the Bushies to run rough-shod over the whole world.

The Republicans, hungry for local power and influence, anabled the NEO-CONS to implement their retarded foreign policy schemes.

THEY ARE ALL TO BLAME. INVESTIGATE AND IMPEACH!

Gravatar as a former democrat and a former republican, this article does speak to me...

i was astonished at how easily the democratic party rolled over to the republican party in 2002...

i asked loudly, "hey wait a minute, who's going to represent us, the people against this war..."

i was actually warned to keep these opinions to myself... that the office i was working in as a temporary contractor would not appreciate these views...

after pat buchanon hijacked the independent party in 2000... and basically destroyed it... there really was no-one to represent those of us who knew this was going to be a disaster...

and while i find myself disagreeing and even taking offense at some of the ultra liberal posits that are on occasional display here on this blog...

i find that, given the correct analysis by Greenwald of the new definitions of "conservative" and "liberal", i must hope the democratic party, with it's new found power, takes down this administration and jails as many as possible...

for a brief period of time, a saying was going around: we need the republican wing of the republican party to take control of the republican party...

we can only hope...

Gravatar LOL, "Nobody asked his opinion"?

They're still acting like the adults.

Gravatar I've figured out the neo-conservative plan. Essentially, they're Democrats that decided to pretend to be Republican, and fool people into thinking they were Republican, and mess about on a scale so massive that people would be forced to vote Democrat through pure logic.

Gravatar What is it with these Republican women and hair frosting?

Does she wear ruffled panties with the days of the week on em too?

Gravatar What happened to Tweety thinking Bush is such a great guy and why does everybody hate Bush? You are so right,Lori.
The non-neo-con repubs enabled the criminal-in-chief every step of the way(and a few dinos too).

Gravatar The great amnesia begins, as "mainstream" GOPers, "traditional" conservatives and TV talk pudits suddenly forget how vociferously they attacked people who have had antiwar positions over the last 3 -4 years. Matthews, George Will, Pat Buchanan (for all his isolationism) and scores of others castigated people who voted against the war as lunatics, traitors, terror-supporters, sore losers and just plain stupid. Now, all of a sudden, those same people are pointing fingers at a handful of neocons and yelling "They did it! Not me! Go get them!"

John - do you keep an archive of the clips you show? Because I'd love to go digging through them to show Matthews and others braying about how crazy Howard Dean is and how others with Dean's views are crazy, sore-loser Bush-bashers who hate the troops and want America to mollycoddle Al Qaeda.

What is that famous phrase Matthews girlishly delivered about Bush? That he has a "sunny nobility." Meanwhile, the rest of us were popping Pepcid because we could so clearly see the catastrophe unfolding from miles (and years) away

Gravatar Sweet

Gravatar If you listen to the beginning of the clip, she says that Ford didn't join in the frey of criticizing the President like Jimmy Carter did: "Who are so critical of a sitting president and his foreign policy". (She says it in such a way that sounds like being critical is somehow wrong.)

Is it somehow considered wrong in US culture for an ex-president to criticize a sitting one? (I'm not from the USA and don't know the culture so I don't really know.)

Gravatar Exactly what is her claim to fame? What think tank did she come from? Anyone know?

Gravatar Some previous Chris Matthews quotes:

"Bush belongs on Mt. Rushmore"

"Bush glimmers with a sunny nobility"

"Everyone likes Bush except the real whackjobs"

"Bush is just like Lincoln"

"Democrats are like Osama bin laden"

"Critics of the War are just like Al Qaeda"

"Sometimes Bush has to break the law"

"Democrats are 'quibblers', 'whiners', snibblers', 'carpers', complainers' "

"Bush looks like he's a wise man now and a man of restraint, almost Atticus Finch."

"Democrats will 'lynch' the President if they gain control of Congress."

"This is Clint Eastwood stuff. I think the president today is brilliantly putting a marker out there and saying to the Jack Murthas and the rest, "OK, vote against reconstruction. Vote against my plan to turn this war over to the Iraqis, that's my long-term plan, you vote against it and I'm gonna nail you."

Gravatar uh...er...uh...mmm...uh...my talking points ... uh .. suck

is I believe what the pretty lady was trying to say.

Gravatar It's amazing that Matthews has seen the light, but it's unfortunate it took so damn long.

Never forget that Chris Matthews got on his show after the Iraq invasion and declared this:

"We're all neo-cons now!"

Shit like that is why I simply can't trust Matthews.

Gravatar Why does it seem all “Republican Strategist” these days are good looking blond babes? And what does it take to be a “Republican Strategist” anyway? And if these “Republican Strategists” are so brilliant to be chosen to share their thoughts on prime-time cable, then why is the Republican Party in such disarray? And why can’t Matthews offer some sort of apology/explanation for being one of Bush’s foremost cheerleaders until last month or so? (Remember: “The American people just like this guy! cept those liberal nut cases…”) I suppose, Matthews realized the American people don’t think much of Bush, and his ‘vanity war’ was the worst mistake we ever made. So he’s come around. Like someone real smart once said, “The mark of an intelligent man, is that he can change his mind.” But somehow, I can’t come to apply that to Tweety.

Gravatar Don 12.31 right you are , now that bush is a lame asshole these bastards who shined bushes nuts with thier furry toungs the past 6 yrs are trying to get the american people to believe they see the light and are willing to be better next time these slack jawed imbiceles vote for the repigs , a skunk dont chang its stripes!

Gravatar Liberal and Proud, I just about fell over and landed face first into my breakfast (left over stuffing, yum) when I read your comment about voting repulican and making less then 200,000 grand a year. My REPUBLICAN baby brother who is a special CPA who deal with rich people's cash and hides it in special 'charities' just told me the same thing over Christmas, except he says it with a smile on his face and calls those folks doops.

Gravatar The Rethugs are running for the hills to try and protect their own asses in the next electoral cycle. You're going to be absolutely astonished by how many of them "privately" disapproved of the war. What transparent filth they are.

Just asking.....I mean, the Liberals make marks of their values, good marks in our government.

Gravatar Ones as a possesive doesn't have an apostrophe. "One's" means "one is..."

Is there no one on this blog who can spell? It's misused both in the post and the quotation.

Sorry it's just so frustrating. I don't mean anything advanced, just the basics. Every time I read this blog there's something like "Clearly the Limbaugh's of the world think that.."

There are many more, this is just the apostrophe department. P-p-p-pul-leeeaase? It's an important and heavily-read blog, so it would be nice if it didn't seem illiterate.

..

Gravatar has anybody ever called matthews on his flip flopping bullshit to his face? shows you how hard it is to penetrate the media shell...

Gravatar Thank you Mr. Punctuation. If you're looking for grammar felons...the best place to start is the White House.

Now, back to topic.

Republican values? Kill the gays, no sex for anyone but us (and of course underage sex is OK..cause we're Republicans, homosexual sex is ok...cause we're covert Republicans), make money anyway we can...except work hard (cause work is hard), lots of vacation time (those family values ya know) and anything goes in intelligence gathering and torture.

Gravatar sorry bangkok it just pains me to see the elitests trying to look comfortable while looking down on the working class!

Gravatar Well Bill it certainly ain't Euros. Ha, ha.

Gravatar Thanks Lib and Proud, I get confused about what they are supposed to stand for. I saw a great post somewhere that said, and I quote here:

"Liberals got women the right to vote.
Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote.
Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty.
Liberals ended segregation.
Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act.
Liberals created Medicare.
Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act.

What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things – every one. So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, ‘Liberal,’ as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won’t work, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor."

Gravatar The pugnacious I cant stands no more seem's more than qualified for the job.

Gravatar Matthews makes me sick. Yeah, he saw through this just like his hero Reagan would have.

My ass.

Reagan was a brain-dead chump at best, and matthews's slobber is still all over W's zipper.

Gravatar Yes, Original Bill. Or 100,000 in 1966 dollars.

Of course, with the dollar devaluing so quickly due to these wonderful economic, social and foreign relations policies...the number changes minute by minute.

Gravatar 220,000 in January dollars.

250,000 in February dollars.

I'm taking a pay cut every month!

Gravatar if the dems hadnt taken the house and senate matthews would still be useing bushes croutch for a jaw rest!

Gravatar "the money thing is being felt EVERYWHERE."

The money thing is just starting.

This has been a warm winter, particularly in the east for the most part, so the rise in energy costs hasn't bitten as bad as it could have.

But the summer is coming. Air conditioning bills, rising mortgage rates, weak housing, Iraq deaths climbing.

This is shaping up to be a not very pleasant summer in this country.

Gravatar I don't know if this was mentioned yet, but I loved the reaction she gave when Mathews said "...strange ideologs..."

I think MSNBC is trying to position itself as the anti-war channel. Next we'll see them bring back Donahue.

Gravatar I've never heard of Karen Hanretty before, but she's not very impressive. She doesn't speak well, and she didn't seem very bright.

Matthews pretty much wasted her without breaking a sweat.

Gravatar However you feel about the loud mouthed Chris Mathews... he has consitantly questioned this war from the get go. He is dead right on this issue and the prom queen had her arguments torn to shreds in front of her.

Gravatar My first post on C&L even though I have been a frequent visitor ever since I found out about.

How can her talking point be that, "Oh lets see what Bush's vision is for troop levels" and "He needs to answer Why are we engaged in this conflict? and what is the bigger picture"... Hello!!, Shouldnt we have the answer to that oh so important question by now, or better yet when u start something a war??

Gravatar My first post on C&L even though I have been a frequent visitor ever since I found out about it.

Gravatar n1K | 12.29.06 - 2:07 pm |

Welcome to the wonderful world of posting at C&L. If you don't battle with trolls and don't attack the sitemonitors (especially after they've chastised you), you should be fine.

As for Bush's options, I honestly think he's "thinking" about them as much as he was "thinking" about whether or not to go to war with Iraq...in other words, the conclusion was established a long time ago.

For Bush...

Maintain the same number of troops = "stay the course". Already been rejected.

Cut the number of troops = "cut and run". Already been rejected.

So he's going to increase the number of troops. He can pretend he's considering other options, but he's not. I'll be stunned if I'm wrong on this.

Gravatar He can do what he wants...as he always has done.

This time, he passed on Daddy's assistance to help him out of another jam caused by his (GWB's) incompetence. Geeez, just how many problems has Daddy fixed for this moron.

Anyway, he can raise the troop levels....and probably will, and the idiot congress will go along with it...cause that is what big business (particularly big oil) wants.

But this time, I think the anger of the country will be quick, it will be loud and it will be seen.

The American public is ANGRY. When poll numbers are in the 20s, as this President's are...there is REAL dissension out there.

The American public does NOT like to be ignored. GWB has never had to suffer the repercussions of his actions. That is why he behaves like a petulant child always used to having his way. This time, he may learn a life lesson his Daddy never taught him.

Gravatar True, but that facist bitch is hot.

Gravatar Thanks Kevin,

I think you are absolutly right.

I can never imagine Bush.. ahem.. "deciding" to the most sensible option; to reposition our troops so that they arent being used for target practice..

I think he would rather swallow a bullet then swallow his pride.

Gravatar just more of the same crap coming down the tube. how can this woman just sit there so smugly and support that which by all accounts now is unsupportable. is she trying to be the next anne coulter. good sentence structure and fine vocabulary do not a thinker make. pretty girl but an empty headed bubble head. keep trying, maybe she'll hit on something that rings true. matthews really did not put up with the crap she was dishing out. seems like they are all imploding. feast on one another.

Gravatar sorry about the anonymous post above. my computer crashed and i didn't reset the salutation.

He'll definitely be taught the lesson, but I don't think he'll learn it. Mr. Bush could be convicted of treason and he'll just try to find a way to blame it on Clinton.

I think he would rather swallow a bullet then swallow his pride.

Gravatar A few more cutesy quotes from Chris Matthews:

"He (Bush) won the war. He was an effective commander. Everybody recognizes that, I believe, except a few critics. ... He looks for real. ... [H]e didn't fight in a war, but he looks like he does. ... We're proud of our president. ... Women like a guy who's president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president."

"Tom DeLay, you are not in this buisness for the money. You live modestly.."

"I mean he (Osamam bin Laden) sounds like an over the top Michael Moore here, if not a Michael Moore."

Matthews stated that if Democratic critics recognize that Bush made a "smart decision" to invade Iraq, then Bush "deserves to have a place in history" because "[y]ou can't say he did the right thing but he didn't quite do it right."

"What happens, Senator Breaux, if it looks like that Al Qaeda is playing cards here, playing a game of trying to get people to vote Democrat for president, to basically make their case worldwide? Doesn't it put your party in a terrible position of having Al Qaeda rooting for you?"

"And I think the president here is right back to his old political craft. This is going to be a very strong political move by the president. He’s talking about spending an extra $3 billion for extra economic aid to the new government of IRAQ for rebuilding. I think he’s going to hold the Democrats’ feet to their fire and say, “Are you going to vote for this or vote against it? I dare you to vote against it.” And I think this is the brilliant political move here by the president, forcing the Democratic carpers and complainers to come forward, and say, “All right, you don’t like my strategy for victory in Iraq? Vote against it. Go ahead, make my day"

Gravatar Just looked through the comments again...

What makes her think she has more right than Jimmy Carter to give her opinion? Personally, I'm more interested in Carter's opinion than this Stepford-idiot's.

If anything, Carter has been too silent. I understand there's issues relative the integrity of the office and stuff, but this is a monumental error. Carter, Clinton, and Bush Sr. should be marching with Cindy Sheehan in my opinion.

Gravatar Tweety is a total whore. I've lost track of how many times he (figuratively) got down on his knees to suck neocon & repubican cock regarding this illegal war.

Gravatar Chris Matthews explores Bush's manly manliness with the hypermasculine G Gordon Liddy, as both of them gaze upon footage (or "crotch-age") of Bush's famed "Mission Accomplished" closeup:

MATTHEWS: What do you make of this broadside against the USS Abraham Lincoln and its chief visitor last week?

LIDDY: Well, I—in the first place, I think it’s envy. I mean, after all, Al Gore had to go get some woman to tell him how to be a man. And here comes George Bush. You know, he’s in his flight suit, he’s striding across the deck, and he’s wearing his parachute harness, you know—and I’ve worn those because I parachute—and it makes the best of his manly characteristic. You go run those, run that stuff again of him walking across there with the parachute. He has just won every woman’s vote in the United States of America. You know, all those women who say size doesn’t count—they’re all liars. Check that out. I hope the Democrats keep ratting on him and all of this stuff so that they keep showing that tape.

MATTHEWS: You know, it’s funny. I shouldn’t talk about ratings...but last night was a riot because … these pictures were showing last night, and everybody’s tuning in to see these pictures again.”

Gravatar Chris Matthews and Peggy Noonan discuss Bush's manly manliness and his regular, normal American guy-rapport with working class males, while Hillary Clinton.. well, she don't exactly turn the guys on, do she?

MATTHEWS: .... Peggy [Noonan], you know what I’m talking about. The cultural difference between the guys in uniforms and Hillary Clinton.

NOONAN: Oh, absolutely. It’s—look, working guys, enlisted men, cops, firemen, they relate to Bush as a guy, as a regular, normal, masculine, American man who is doing his best and trying to be a decent guy.

MATTHEWS: Yes. Yes.

NOONAN: I think that always shows up. I think they see Hillary as an elitist, mmmm, snooty school monitor in high school.

MATTHEWS: It’s not exactly like Katie, Katie Hepburn walking past the job site in Manhattan, either.

Gravatar Why is Matthews called "Tweety"?

Gravatar Stop with the REAL CONSERVATIVES nonsense. Reagan tripled the national debt in just 8 years. His administration tried to do in Central America what Shrub did in the Middle East, and for the same reasons - to keep the war industry humming.

The GOP has been a party in the wrong since the Great Depression. They are not conservatives in the glorified Goldwater sense but fascist on economic policy, imperial-fantasist on foreign policy, and insane spendthrifts fiscally. Let's stop glorifying Nixon, Reagan, Bush 41, even Ford. None of these guys were Lowell Weicker, or even Barry Goldwater. They would have been every bit as bad as Shrub if given carte blanche as he was.

Gravatar NOONAN: Oh, absolutely. It’s—look, working guys, enlisted men, cops, firemen, they relate to Bush as a guy, as a regular, normal, masculine, American man who is doing his best and trying to be a decent guy.

Uh, no.

They see him as a privilege frat boy cheerleader coward failed businessman failed politician who disappeared on 9/11 until he was sure he was safe.

Where has she been living the past 3 years?

Gravatar Karen Hanretty... Real cute... but smart as a rock.

Gravatar There's so much DNA evidence of Bush on Matthews that we should just dismiss anything he says. He may be bad-mouthing him today but his tongue swings both ways and he'll be back in love tomorrow.

Gravatar Smackdown and she looked shocked Tweety would say such a thing.

Gravatar "No one was seeking President Ford's opinion..."

Bullshit! Bob Woodward was seeking President Ford's opinion. Ford didn't "chime in." He responded to Woodward's questions and provides a sobering indictment of Bush's incompetence and hubris. Nice spin Henretty, but the public is on to the Rovian twists of the neocons.

Gravatar I disagree with Matthews. I think the military industrial congressional complex ensures that such conflicts will occur more and more.

Every politican who votes for the enormous military budget and every taxpayer who funds it is ensure conflicts such as Iraq will take place.

We cannot simultaneously prepare for war and peace.

Gravatar >Why does it seem all “Republican Strategist” these days are good looking blond babes?>

Two words: Lucianne Goldberg.

Oh wait - two more words: Linda Tripp

The GOP realized it had only braised broads in front of the tv cameras during the Lewinsky scandal, and it turned people off to see bitter, unattractive women wringing their hands over cute but pudgy Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton and the blow job scandal. The top GOP marketers put out the word to train better-looking female recruits as GOP operatives and decreed that then-current female GOP operatives (Liddy Dole, Peggy Noonan) needed to get plastic surgery and good dye jobs or they'd have to permamnently forego the live-TV camera lens.

It's all about marketing and ratings.

Gravatar More proof that these ignorant Repug. robotical whores just can't comprehend facts and never will stop lying for this incompetent and criminal administration.

Gravatar GOP male operatives are still allowed to be ugly (Ken Mehlman), but there has been a concerted effort to train more attractive men, too. The GOP wants its male operatives to be casual, relaxed and non-threateningly-attractive ---- a sort of a Mormon-in-a-Dockers-commercial look --- because they feel those kind of guys make the best impression on Bill Maher's show and across the table from Jon Stewart.

Ralph Reed, Tom DeLay and William Kristol have exchanged cosmetic dermatology tips.

Gravatar >Why does it seem all “Republican Strategist” these days are good looking blond babes?>

Two words: Lucianne Goldberg.

Oh wait - two more words: Linda Tripp

-------------------------------------------------

Well, if you're gonna mention those two nitwits, I guess "good-looking blond babes" is a highly-subjective, relative statement.

Still, you have a point. They always like to trot out the Kellyann Fitzpatricks of the world whenever the 8 or 9 black gops they've got on the payroll aren't available.

They're gonna have a black republican party convention as soon as the bin laden bar mitzvah is over and they can get someone to rent the other half of the phone booth.

Gravatar SLAP!!

Damn, she's still a stupid idiot!

Doesn't work Tweety, nice try though.

How's that, shmendrik? By all means, feel free to expand, expound and enlighten us.

Gravatar Oh yeah, see GWB isnt Republican, this war is Neocon. Covertly shifting blame off the GOP. Nice try Chris.

Gravatar It was obvious that up until the moment when Matthews said this was a neocon war she was expecting the same old compliant tweety we've come to know and hate in the past 6-8 years.
I love the way she blinked her eyes and swallowed hard. D'ya think she wet her knickers a little bit just then?

Don't be so hard on yourself. I mean you apparently have nothing better to do than to hang out with and comment on people you consider to be "the biggest collection of dumb fuckers out there...really!"
Happy New Year, you balless wonder.

Gravatar BTDT | 12.29.06 - 12:59 pm |

So true. Maybe Tweety's Kool Aid is finally wearing off.

Gravatar come on tornadooooooooooo get the son of a bitch!

Gravatar I can't stands no more: "Ones as a possesive doesn't have an apostrophe. "One's" means "one is..."

You're wrong. Both the possesive of "one" and the contraction for "one is" or "one has" have apostrophes. I've seen a lot of imaginary grammar "rules," but never this one. You may be confusing it with the it's/its distinction, where the contraction has the apostrophe and the possessive does not.

Gravatar They always show these pundits from the shoulder up. Where are there hands?

Gravatar their

Gravatar As usual, Mr. Tweety misses the mark.

There was more than "...only one president, Dick Cheney, and the neo-cons..." who got us "stuck in the desert." The fact is that those idiots had the unfailing support of a Republican dominated Senate and House, and the general acquiescence of a weak, cowardly, and irresponsible American public.

Take a close look at what the lying Tweety is trying to pass off here.

He's trying to save his beloved Republicans by extracting them from any responsibility for our nightmare.

If you fall for this then you deserve the future we are headed for.

The Tweety is a liar, just like the liars he is trying to cover for.
.

Gravatar Hanretty is one vile thingy.

Gravatar >They always show these pundits from the shoulder up. Where are there hands?>

Under the table, counting their money.

Gravatar "Presidents Ford & Reagan . . ." Both dead. How relevant is that to the Republican Party? Fact: This is a Republican disaster, allowed by a docile, ignorant public and mealymouthed Republicrats, like Tweety. People on the Left were always against it.

Gravatar I think we all should lay off Tweety for his past mistakes.

It's allways more gratifying to convert a foe. Tweety has seen the light. Let's hope we can get all the moderate republicans on our side over this horrible Iraq mistake.

Gravatar Hanretty is one vile thingy.

Allan | 12.29.06 - 4:57 pm

I think he woke up, licked his index finger then stuck it outside to test the direction of the wind. He used to be known as a 'Liberal' before this incarnation on MSNBC. All San Francisco values shit. He's a hack and has had no awakening. He's just following the money.

Gravatar He's a hack and has had no awakening. He's just following the money.
miss_kitty

Bingo! We have a winner.

Tweety is a bozo, who will say anything in order to fill up dead air.

Who the hell wants to "convert" a pro-war idiot anyway? Personally speaking the more I can avoid these jerkwads the happier I am. What they deserve, and need, is to stew in the hellish cesspool of their own arrogance... for a long time. It's called repentance.

Bottom line: I sure as hell don't need to have Tweety-bird's approval to know that I've been right about this war-crap all along, and that the Tweet has been wrong... wrong, every step of the way.
.

Gravatar So aren't "Conservatives" attacking themselves in a way.
Anonymous | 12.29.06 - 12:18 pm | #

----------------------------------------------

Gee, that's like cancer getting cancer. We're talking metastasis here.

That's a shame.

Gravatar How was Reagan a conservative? He was for white affirmative action, a weapon's build-up which put us into debt, and for
spying on the sexual behavior of consenting adults.

Gravatar Hanretty is one vile thingy.
hurumph

--------------------------------------------

Actually, he's one thick, ignorant, white-trash piece o'crap vile thingy.

Gravatar Oh look, another blonde, idiotic Republican erection-shriveller on the TV. Christ, how I wish I subscribed to cable. Just look what I'm missing.

Gravatar IMPREACH !!

Gravatar She is well-coiffed, well painted, and well dressed. Unfortunately, beneath the outside visage, she is a roboton without a functioning brain or heart. I guess that she didn't have to pass any Constitution test in her school years. No one should critique our "standing Decider-in-chief". We don't wantr to critique him, we want to impeach him. Go away, lady, before your face melts.

Gravatar Ring the bell...school's in sucka!

Gravatar If Ronald Reagan is representative of a real conservative, then the definition of conservative includes racist. He started his 1980 presidential campaign in Philidelphia, MS (the Neshoba County Fair) on a platform of "states rights". His reign ushered in the imagery of the welfare queen being as a "fat, implacable" Black woman. He praised South Africa for its civil rights for BLACK Africans, and fought "tooth & nail" against the MLK holiday... I'll no go into his tenure as Gov. of Ca.

Gravatar I liked the look on the Stepford wife's face when Matthews put the blame for this war at the feet of the NeoCons. Too bad he hasn't been this vocal the past six years.

---

Gravatar as I'm sure everyone has pointed out...this rat comes out with a message that he has shot down time and time again until now finally public opinion has shifted enough to where he feels it's safe to speak the truth. These guys should be run out of the business.

So Screw you Chris Matthews you are proof that we need a new media in this country...it makes me very thankful for blogs.

Gravatar Well I'm almost convinced that this all is a giant game.

They take USA to the brink of civil war,(so I think), then they just did an about face so we would sit down and give it up.

They robbed our money from all of us but for their buddies they didn't rob them so much.

It's so confusing and hidden, but right in our faces at the same time. These people have so much money and power they can buy/sway any medium.

They, them, and their buddies, I am talking of includes Democrats,Republicans, Saudi Arabia, UK, and whoever else knows.

They have almost completed the Global Controls a planet united for profit or for what I don't know.

Why hasn't a political party separate from the Dems, Repugs, and corporations, rose from the internet?

Confused ..........The TV needs to go now! The internet is almost as corrupt as the TV.
Just seems like we wont be freed from death , hate , and greed till something big world changing happens.
All the guys on the Tv, that did the rooting for the Bush guys needs to be prosecuted , taken off the air .
Only because the information was right here!!!! It was out there from them to find.

They just ignored the facts, listened to their bosses, and read their scripts.FCC should try making that illegal get off the swear words, and titties.

?????????????????????????

Gravatar Well, finally had a look at this vid... For as long as it lasts it did look like Matthews punked her out..

More striking to me, Tweety actually looks ligitimately peeved at the state of things and circumstances the U.S faces.. And,evidently at this somewhat late date recognizes it's all on Bush and his gang.. That he may be weaning himself off the kool-aid for his careers sake, and the turn, events has taken for the party and synchophants he was cheering for not too long ago I find somewhat humorous...Another rat leaving the SS Bushco...

Must be tough for Tweety to have to throw some neocon babe apologist under the bus... Someone he would have been happy to be allies with just a short time ago... Boo hoo, Tweety, got a hangover from the kool-aid dude??? Yeaa, that shit will happen.... I want to welcome you to the 'reality based' world, but I'm not sold your conversion is ligit...
JD

Gravatar depends on which way the wind blows.......he's as much at fault as the rest.

Gravatar and then my other brain starts tellin me....GO SOUTH.....she ain't all that bad lookin....for an old lady.

Gravatar "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself" - FDR

"Ask NOT what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" - JFK

Gravatar it is!

Gravatar tyree....stay away from the viagra....or in your case...GUNPOWDER.........have a great New Year Tyree.....I'll be leaving soon...but I'll be checkin in from time to time.....Heres wishing you a better New Year Tyree!

Gravatar I love republican women like that. I'd like to disagree with her just for the fun of it.

Gravatar There is something seriously wrong with Republican women...they are all damaged goods.

Gravatar can anyone say "B A T T Y"...

Gravatar she dissed ford...one of the most truly moral repugs of the 20th century
(and ya, i know about the pardon, but he was a good man anyway)

and she is exactly what is wrong with the current repug party

they have no real respect for anyone who doesnt walk lockstep with their current insane idealogy

Gravatar I can recall in an earlier time, as a citizen of Illinois, when the Republican party was filled with accomplished statesman operating with a deep integrity and appreciation for America. I voted for many of them.

Senator Charles Percy

Congressman John Anderson

Governor Jim Thompson

There were many others from other states.

Senator Howard Baker

Senator John Heinz

Senator Barry Goldwater.

I may not have agreed with their politics all of the time but I respected the person. There are fewer now of such people in both parties.

Gravatar I do believe she will be pooping out of a brand new hole tonight

Gravatar Whoa...shake those eyelashes. She sure didn't like that "bitch slap" she took at the end of her blather.

There is so much denial and fantasy to these neocon leftovers. They will never, ever admit they fucked up. They just can't say "I'm sorry, I screwed up"...ever. So they'll go on making it sound like Jimmy Carter is the reason...Gerald Ford was never wise enough to bring into the fold...some of the repugs are now losing spirit...and all this other bullshit that only takes away from the real issue. dubya is a chimp, and he has the brains of a chimp and the temperment of a spoiled brat. He thought/thinks he can bully the world around by tossing our military might at them..and he wants to look like a tough guy. Cowboy mentality. It's really just that simple. And his goons, cheney, rummy, rice (AWOL as of late...possibly with OBL someplace) and the rest of the jerk offs in this administration are all horses asses that had as much forsight and planning put into this fiasco as one who rushed to the throne to toss his cookies. We have been led by idiots.

By the way...where is our token rice these days? Haven't spotted her in any shoe stores have we?

Gravatar Tweety sure came out swinging on this one.

Gravatar A rare and impressive performance by Matthews.

I would like to see journalists continue to point out that, not only are some prominent people speaking out against the war, but MORE IMPORTANTLY the American people have spoken out against the war with the votes. We want OUT——not this BS about a "way forward". And the only "surge" is a surge in opposition to the war and the president and his policies.

We dont' want more troops IN, we want ALL of our troops OUT!

How hard is it for the MSM to remember this and to point it out to idiots like Bush mouthpieces when they're spouting their tiresome nonsense.

Way to go Tweety! Keep it up! Maybe you're learning...

Gravatar There is no left right debate because both sides are not going to offend Israel.

It's like arguing about which boss is telling you what. The business interest based Israeli back boys (dems) or the Neo-Con Religious Nutjob Israeli backed boys (repugs).

The rational people who want no war are not represented.

Gravatar One of Matthews' periodic moments of lucidity... too bad they never seem to last...

Gravatar She's a classic dittohead dork:

http://www.newsreview.com/sacram...oid=oid% 3A34246

"Karen Hanretty is a self-proclaimed conservative attack dog. She likes letting loose on political opponents, accusing them of being Marxists or of having positions so absurd as to render them worthy of a Monty Python caricature. She seems to like it when they let loose on her in return. She likes appearing on national news shows to needle those with whom she disagrees and to put a rosy hue on all things GOP. And she likes talking about the important issues of the day."

Gravatar Boo hoo hoo. Looking dumb, shocked, and put-upon might not work out so well for Karen:

http://www.flashreport.org/ speci...006012702531650

"Until recently, Karen Hanretty was the Communications Director for the California Republican Party. She has now started her own public relations/strategic communications firm based in Sacramento."

Gravatar Here's a video of Cliff Schecter and Karen:

http://cliffschecter.blogspot.co...gist- karen.html

CLIFF SCHECTER, DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST: "Maybe the Republican strategy should be to send over Mark Foley so he might actually scare the children of the insurgents, but I haven't seen anything intelligent come out of them recently."

Gravatar Karen insists Jim Webb's risque accounts of pedophilia (or whatever you call it) are 100 times worse than Foley's real life pedophilia.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=wnN7QBEVDFQ

Gravatar wow, too bad it took him THREE YEARS to realize what was obvious to the rest of us!

Gravatar Shared Humanity,

Don't forget Everett Dirksen in that list. He represented our district here for many years and like Barry Goldwater, you could disagree with him without being disagreeable. You might want to include Jim Edgar in there too.

The best Illinois politician ever other than Abraham Lincoln in my opinion was Paul Simon. I had the chance to meet him personally several times and he was just as humble and self effacing privately as he was in public. To me, he represents the ideal of what public service should be about---not selfish gain, but other centered service for the collective public benefit.

Also take a look at "Mr Conservative" on HBO sometime. Given the sorry state of conservatism today, you will have a whole new appreciation of how people like Hanretty and others have twisted a decent philosophy into an unrecognizable mutant of the original.

Gravatar It is about time that Chris get on the good foot.

This crap has nothing to do with democrat or republican.

It is what it is and no one would have lead the American troops into this crap but the crooks that did it

Gravatar wow, too bad it took him THREE YEARS to realize what was obvious to the rest of us!

Well,he opposed the invasion from the beginning;but at the same time,he had a man-crush on George "codpiece" Bush--the chief invader.

Matthews is a complicated guy.
