Gravatar Done.

Gravatar Count me in.

I just can't believe that here in America such a question would be even asked. What the hell happened to our country? Can you imagine that question being asked in the past elections before 2004? No one would have even thought of it.

Gravatar I'll give 'em that authority if they give me the right to kick them in the nuts whenever I feel like it. Like right now.

Gravatar Done and done, sir.

Gravatar (or ma'am, or whatever.)

Gravatar Only a surrender monkey would not want to preserve the president's right to gas anyone, everyone, at his pleasure, or to pleasure himself or herself while watching anyone and everyone being gassed to keep America secure.

Gravatar Habbeus what???

Gravatar The question is no longer at the top. Search by most popular and it will show up, you just have to scroll down a bit. Look for SilentPatriot's name.

Great question!

Gravatar Mitt, Rudy, McInsane . .

Guys that will do ANYTHING to get elected.

Gravatar Habbeus what???
sam | 05.01.07 - 4:50 pm |

Corpus. As in the at least 36 "enemy combatants" whose death in American custody have been ruled a homicide.

Gravatar Its time to call Republicans what they are...Monarchists. They should be driven into the sea.

Gravatar Can the rethuglican party be decreed an outlaw organization and then disbanded?

Just a thought!

Gravatar there you have it, two on record as fascists. willing to violate the constitution by being asked a hypothetical question by a reporter.

can you imagine how much they would use it in reality?

this is damn scary that we have this many more of these fascists waiting in the wings.

Gravatar Romney:

"Yeah, sure! If it is legal, why not?"

Gravatar I wish all Repugs now had a record.

Just not When The Eagle Soars.

Gravatar [Wow. It's just amazing how you slip in something that's nothing to do with the thread. It's called 'threadjacking.' Surely there's another blog you can go to that talks about your pet topic all the time. Now, KNOCK IT OFF-Sitemonitor]

Gravatar Thank you for not letting this go. It is absolutely shocking that anybody who is a candidate for national office could possibly say this.

Gravatar I'm not shocked that Repukes would say this. They're all traitors and fascists.

Gravatar Done, but I would almost rather have the much shorter, "Yes or No. Do you believe in evolution?" question asked.

Gravatar [Poster JohnSmo just said it best "Wow, just wow...

Some kind of internet tough guy?" We'll see-Sitemonitor]

Gravatar My question was specifically for Mr. Brownback, related to the ethics (or lack thereof) of his "re-election."

In the 2004 primary, a serious Democratic contender, Lee Jones, lost to an unknown named Robert Conroy. The very next day, Conroy states that he was dropping out of the race. The KDP, as a result, hussled to get Jones on the general ballot. In the end, Lee Jones was defeated.

I firmly believe, as do many other Democrats here in Kansas, that Conroy was an operative of the Brownback campaign sent in to sabotage the Democratic nomination. It's not the first time that Republicans in this state have stooped so low to win (thankfully, I was not treated like this in my recent city council campaign, even though I still lost), and it certainly won't be the last.

I just want to put the Senator on record about this.

Gravatar falseflagfiesta | 05.01.07 - 5:11 pm | #

Oh! Now see? That's a personal attack!

See the difference?

Gravatar falseflagfiesta | 05.01.07 - 5:11 pm | #

Wow, just wow...

Some kind of internet tough guy?

Gravatar falseflagfiesta | 05.01.07 - 5:11 pm |

There's actually a few Second Amendment supporters posting here though we try not to mix apples with oranges.

Also, when advocating gun rights, try not to act like such an out of control jerk; it makes people nervous.

Gravatar Back to the thread at hand...

I have to think that anybody who entertains the idea of detaining Americans without charges if they can come up with a clever legal argument should be disqualified from running for any public office.

Gravatar Wow, when you read some of the user submitted questions it is scary. I only read a few and was amazed by some of the gems. A few even wrote in complete sentences.

Gravatar I still don't get WHY this would be seen as necessary. If these guys are as big a threat as the government says they are, and they have the proof that shows how they know this, then wouldn't the judicial system and the American people in general be in favor of locking these guys up if presented with the public review? What is the government so afraid of?

Gravatar Rudy's only play is as "the tough talking mayor" that will keep those little security moms safe...

Just keep playing that video of him in drag swapping spit with the Donald! That kind of blows the "Dirty Harry" image a bit...

Mitt, he's not gonna play down south either, no matter how tough he tries to play this "lock em up" image.

Both of them, as soon as they get the fake southern drawl ALA Hillary are going to parody themselves right onto the lead story on the daily show.

Gravatar Done. That question is now halfway done the seconfd page from where the link drops you into the site.(17:10 hrs. EST)

Gravatar Help Put the GOP CANDIDIDATES on the Record

The headline to this thread shows that running for political office is the subject of this thread.

Gravatar This is my absolute, favorite, idiotic question. I have a headache just from thinking about it.

Since Medicare was implemented, the cost of health insurance has skyrocketed. Why should the government be in the health care business and why is health insurance not an individual responsibility? Do you plan to do car and homeowners insurance?

Gravatar ashton | 05.01.07 - 5:26 pm | #

WAY off topic.

Gravatar Also off topic:

This site used to have a better class of trolls.

Gravatar Site monitor?

Gravatar DONE!

Gravatar Awesome! When ranked according to popularity that question in ranked 2nd. I voted at work, and will now vote at home. Cheers!

Gravatar "Since Medicare was implemented, the cost of health insurance has skyrocketed."

What?

There's no direct cause and effect there?

Medicare's been around since the 60s?

Most of the double digit run up in health premiums has been in the last 10-15 years?

I think that is a false connection, unless you are just spitting back Heritage Foundation talking points?

Gravatar Ty! kiss kiss

Gravatar The republicans seek the very same type of power, EXACTLY LIKE what the dictator, Saddam had.

Go figure! They said repeatedly, he was too dangerous and powerful. Maybe that power, in the RIGHT hands,...THEIR HANDS and THEIR HANDS ONLY, is such a GOOD thing?

They tore down the economy, the middle class, the borders, the jobs, and built concentration camps.

Not Saddam, ...republicans did,...RIGHT HERE!

Gravatar the republican slime machine. bush/cheney are pushing to martial law before the 2008 elections and have blackwater secure their coup.

Gravatar The trolls are getting madder. Cant be easy when one realizes their God is a cardboard cutout of a real man. I laugh in their general direction.

Gravatar Vote cast per your request!

Gravatar Right now it is the number 1 question:
http://dyn.politico.com/debate/ s...owquestions.cfm

Gravatar I cast my vote for your question.

Gravatar The trolls are getting madder. Cant be easy when one realizes their God is a cardboard cutout of a real man. I laugh in their general direction.

Just pull a Monty Python and "blow your nose" at them.

Gravatar You can sort by most popular (it is the most popular) instead of scrolling pages

Gravatar Its time to call Republicans what they are...Monarchists. They should be driven into the sea.
Borg Warner | 05.01.07 - 4:59 pm | #

BUT THAT WOULD RUIN THE WATER

Gravatar Done.

Gravatar Done.

Gravatar I couldn't find that question, but I found this:

I think we should invite Canada to join the United States; who's with me?

It'll be a cold day in hell before that ever happens. We're not INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perish the thought. We ARE free.

Gravatar The Repugnants should just call their organization what it is: the Fascist Party.

Gravatar Clear your cookies and vote again.

Gravatar This works.

Clear your cookies under internet options, close then reopen the browser, and vote again.

Gravatar eff that. I voted for the one about the END TIMES 'cause they will look like idiots trying to appease their base without appearing absolotely insane. Anyone pro-apocalypse will make TDS and TCR havr a great week

Gravatar The Repugnants should just call their organization what it is: the Fascist Party.
JohnDoe | 05.01.07 - 6:16 pm |

I'd bet on 'the Freedom Party' as their new name, considering the overtime their double-speakers are on.

Gravatar I tried to vote but I received a message that stated I had already voted for the question so it wouldn't register it. I don't have access to another computer so I am not sure if it was a genuine error with mine or something else.

Gravatar I hold Thomas Jefferson's views to be self-evident. I hold contrary views in contempt.

“The system of justice will either protect citizens from tyranny or be one means by which tyranny is exercised over them. A just society rests upon an equal application of the law to each and every citizen; it protects the rights of individuals regardless of the inconveniences caused thereby. It is of inestimable importance to the happiness and security of the people that justice be administered strictly, according to the established forms of the law.” – Thomas Jefferson

"It [is] more dangerous that even a guilty person should be punished without the forms of law, than that he should escape." --Thomas Jefferson

"It [is] more a duty…to save an innocent than to convict a guilty man." --Thomas Jefferson

"The imprisonment of a person under the protection of the laws... on his failure to obey the simple order of the President to depart out of the United States,... is contrary to the Constitution, one amendment to which has provided that 'no person shall be deprived of liberty without due process of law,' and... another having provided that 'in all criminal prosecutions the accused shall enjoy the right to public trial by an impartial jury, to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation, to be confronted with the witnesses against him, to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.'" --Thomas Jefferson

This is 7th grade civics folks. Not presidential debate material.

Gravatar I just voted...Good job Silent Patriot!

Gravatar I placed my vote. Silent Patriot was the second question on the list. After I clicked the "I like this question", it said that the question had made the next round.

Gravatar Voted.
Thanks!

Gravatar now on page 8

Gravatar I am astonished that these creeps can have this sort of conversation and apparently not blink or flinch when asked such questions.

As thought the idea were somehow reasonable in the first place.

Gravatar Actually, you can vote more than 3 times if you're using Firefox browser. Vote... then click tools/clear private data, then reload page and vote. That is unless they have something in place to deter it, which I highly doubt. By giving you this information I'm not saying you should do it.

Gravatar Another important question that was posted on the Politico site for the Republican debate is this one:
---------------
by FOXY FOX on 04.23.2007 at 01:45 PM
Question is for: Ron Paul

What is the American Freedom Agenda Pledge and why are you the only candidate who signed it?
---------------
The American Freedom Agenda Pledge is the initiative of conservatives, including Richard Viguerie (sp?) to:
• End the use of military commissions to prosecute crimes.
• Prohibit the use of secret evidence or evidence obtained by torture.
• Prohibit the detention of American citizens as enemy combatants without proof.
• Restore habeas corpus for alleged alien combatants.
• End National Security Agency warrentless wiretapping.
• Empower Congress to challenge presidential signing statements.
• Bar executive use of the state secret privilege to deny justice.
• Prohibit the President from collaborating with foreign governments to kidnap, detain of torture persons abroad.
• Amend the Espionage Act to permit journalists to report on classified national security matters without threat of persecution.
• Prohibit of the labeling of groups or individuals in the U.S. as global terrorists based on secret evidence.

Unfortunately, the search engine at Politico doesn't seem to work--at least for me.

Gravatar We have the doctrine of Habeas Corpus, and we have the 5th and 6th amendment.

The 5th provides "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury"

The 6th provides " In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall . . . be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation."

As far as Habeas Corpus is concerned, Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution provides "The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."

The person writing about 2nd amendment rights brings issue on the periphery. Like the assault on the 4th amendment waged by the GOP, the idea that amendments can be superceded by legislation needs be be nipped in the bud. Failure to do so threatens protection under all amendments. One has to remember that the Bill of Rights were designed to protect the public from excesses of the government, so it is the natural tendency of the government to try to erode those rights. The constitution needs to be superior to legislation for it to be worth the paper it is written on. Because that notion is being disputed, with the GOPs advocacy that the President is a "unitary executive" exempt from abiding from the law, is the threat to all of our constitutional rights.

Unitary Executive = Der Führer

Gravatar ...with the "smart lawyers" coming from the 'new and improved' justice department.

Gravatar "The mayor said that he would want to use this authority infrequently."

Bullshit! Giuliani was pushing for ID cards for every NYer & random police stops. He spent his entire career wiping his ass with civil liberties.

Bloggers, please look into the Mayor's real record. The man is George Orwell's worst nightmares come to pass,...

Gravatar I can't find SilentP's question. Has it been erased, or am I just stupid?

Gravatar nevermind, found it.

Gravatar It's now number two when sorted by popularity.

http://dyn.politico.com/debate/s...0& submit=Search

Gravatar Is a CANDIDIDATES a candidate who actually admitted he did something wrong?

Gravatar I've been over there for a few minutes and have discovered that there doesn't seem to be a limit on how many questions you can pick, but you can't pick the same question more than once.

The question referencing J. Padilla appears 3 times in the first four pages, you can vote for each one. I guess they gamed it with punctuation or spelling or spacing? I voted for each version, plus others that I like.

Here's a couple I'd like to see asked of all candidates in both major parties:

Currently on page 3-
"In the last election, two of the third-party candidates attempted to enter the debates and were subsequently arrested. If you win the primary, will you debate third-party candidates?"

On page 5-
"Are Al Qaeda members Sunnis or Shiites?"
(nice little test of basic knowledge here)
