Gravatar doh!

Gravatar "tap, tap, tap. Is this thing on?

Gravatar And that last little bit about Gore, I think the real point is that Al was right. About everything.

Choke on that one trolls.

3...2...1...

Gravatar "I knew Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was my governor. And you, sir, are no Ronald Reagan."

Gravatar Tweety sucks so hard I think I hurt!!!

Gravatar The only thing we have to fear is Republicans themselves.

Gravatar

Gravatar Oh, that Tweety, never passing up an opportunity to get in a jab at Gore.

Gravatar Why do people call him Tweety?

From Demopedia (Google cache link):

During Campaign 2000 the media noise machine was swooning over the nicknames Shrub was giving some of them. Media Whores Online ran a contest to nickname Chris MATTHEWS. In the first 3 or so weeks, there was no clear, catchy front runner, with "The Screamer" sort of leading. Then one of MATTHEWS's own Hardball staff leaked to MWO that they themselves called him "Tweety" because of the Clairol shade he favored. This was immediately declared the winner.

Gravatar Tweety sucks so hard, he shits his own teeth.

Gravatar I've heard it was because of the great knob of a head and the sallow yellow complexion.

Gravatar Dr. Matt, what's the capital of Zimbabwe?

Hold on, let me google wikipedia.

Gravatar Dr. Matt, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

Gravatar how can Matthews still get away with that Gore stuff, "...dems running on fear about the economy didn't work..." without Maher pointing out that Gore actually won that election.

Gravatar Tequila,

That's not really a conflict of interest, but I find it interesting that there weren't any Venezuelans among the hijackers on 9/11.

Gravatar Fred Thompson? Charisma? He looks like Mr. Burns next to his wife. They do not look good together.

Gravatar Hey Tweety! You say Gore ran on fear? One difference. He was RIGHT! Bush got elected and DID manage to fuck everything up. From the economy to the war on "terrer" to constitutional rights to judges and prosecutors to Katrina to etc etc etc. Bush has truly earned the title Shittiest President Ever.

Gravatar "Today everyone is a neocon." Tweety when the shrub had high poll ratings. He's just a pimp to public opinion. "Oh, that girl is clean" yesterday, and when you get the clap "you should have used a rubber".

Gravatar Um, excuse me but Al Gore never lost to George W. Bush. He won by over half a million of the popular votes. The Florida election debacle was clearly fixed and the Supreme Court installed Bush as our President in a well planned corporate coup. Not us.

Chris Matthews, you are such an idiot.

Gravatar "Rudy is dead"

Best part of the post!

Gravatar Yah, whatever. Bill Maher cracking up Chris Matthews.

Gravatar "His big ace card is that he's the great terrorism fighter. He said last week that if you vote for a Democrat, you can expect another 9/11. This is amazing arrogance from someone who is a Republican, 9/11 happened in a Republican-led city with a Republican governor and a Republican president. So I guess his slogan is, 'fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, vote for Giuliani in 2008."

Awesome. Brilliant.

Gravatar Maher's an actor, folks, playing a part.

He's more interested in the presentation than the substance.

According to Maher, Giulianni wasn't 'focusing on terrorism' enough before 9/11 because he didn't allow terrorist threats to determine where he would locate a government office.

That's a really, REALLY lame charge.

Gravatar That's not what he said. Giuliani made a terrible decision, ignoring the threat of terrorism, by putting his EMERGENCY COMMAND CENTER in the WORLD TRADE CENTER.

Gravatar Shitball with Chris Matthews. . .

Gravatar According to Maher, Giulianni wasn't 'focusing on terrorism' enough before 9/11 because he didn't allow terrorist threats to determine where he would locate a government office.

Did you not get the point? Are you that stupid?

Gravatar That exchange was lame. Bill Maher making a huge issue of Guilani wearing a dress seemed forced and stupid because we all know he doesn't really think anything of it. He just pretends he does.

Gravatar if a Democratic presidential candidate dressed up in drag, do you really think we'd ever hear the end of it?

Gravatar I don't understand why some liberals hate on Maher so much. He gets it a lot more often than most media pundits.

Gravatar comment czar:

Maher is hilarious and edgy.....

But I think that history he has with Coulter has creeped some people out......

Gravatar Guiliani in a dress. That's small potatos for a Republican. Attempting to molest underage male pages while screaming "family values!", now that's a true Repbulican.

Gravatar Fred "Herman Munster" Thompson. I can picture Thompson busting through a door with bolts sticking out of his neck.

Gravatar I like Bill Maher very much,
but he missed some softballs in this
interview.

Interviewees need to directly address the spin.
He was so geared up to answer questions, that he forgot to counteract Matthews' attitude toward the presentation.
He allowed Matthews to frame the issue with humor and personality. Maher is smart enought to swat that aside and dominate an interview like that.

Why didn't he?

Gravatar Why is it that the only people who have the balls to tell it like it is are comedians?

Seems like they have better insight into the issues as well.

Al franken, Stewart, Maher...

www.theethicalscumbag.blogspot.com

Gravatar Was this the end of the interview? I was really enjoying it and it seemed to end very abruptly.

Gravatar that was a very funny point about freddy boy if he is the savior of the republican party then there is a bigger problem with that bunch than i thought

Gravatar KO points out on his blog that it's not hard to get Chris Mathews to laugh -

Lloyd Benson was my Senator (and his nephew Ken was my Representative. Ken was removed in the Democratic primaries because he voted for a flag-burning amendment. I voted against him as well, one of the elections I was on the winning side), and George "D Dubya I" Bush was no Lloyd Benson.

Gravatar It's so great we got these smiley funny guys on teevee to keep us laughing while 'murica is being transformed into something akin to the old soviet union

Gravatar come on c&l

Who cares if he got Tweety to "Crack UP" ???

Gravatar Tweety can suck the chrome off a bumper hitch!

Gravatar i like how bill maher (or whatever his fucking name is) takes cm's questions seriously ... what a tool

Gravatar I happen to think Tweety giggling like a high seventh grader is well worth my time. Maher's insights aren't unwelcome as well.

Gravatar Bill Mahar was way too funny in this clip and much too smart for Tweety Bird.

Gravatar What will Tweety do when Dumbya is no longer in office?

Gravatar "fear of economy is one thing but fear of your life is something a little different"?

wow ... what words of wisdom from some tv personality tool who doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about

Gravatar *Bwah! ha ha ha ha! Fred Thompson... Really. He also reminds me of depressed cartoon dog, Droopy.

Gravatar err, not "was" rather "was, is and will never be" (a Lloyd Benson.)

Now, George "D Dubya I" Bush *IS* Dan Quayle, IMNHO. And from my recollection, wasn't it Quayle whom Lloyd was debating against when he came up with the original line (which was about JFK)? Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

"And when you're up there
They just can't wait to take you down" - Supertramp ('No Inbetween')

Gravatar Wow, Bill Maher is such a great guy.
Gee, I really love Bill Maher.
Yeah, Bill Maher.

Gravatar Tweety is STILL a Repuke enabler/apologist, despite a few of his recent statements
regarding Chimpy's gross incompetence.

Al Gore could not be more irrelevant to the discussion of Repuke candidates,
but Tweety can't resist a disparaging remark aimed at any Democrat.

Whaddaya expect from a Bushbot talking head on the Bushbot media?

Gravatar yeah tweety fear of economy, And what is our national debt again under bush?

Tweety is an asshat.

I realy think he would blow bush if he had the chance.

Gravatar And Gore was right!
I liked the "Basset hound faced Fred Thompson" comment

Gravatar But I think that history he has with Coulter has creeped some people out......

oh it creeps me out but c'mon, I'm pretty sure he's over that. He's criticized her on his show and you don't see her on Real Time, do you?

Bill's a poon hound. He'll hit anything with tits and a slit. I don't hold that against him even if I do question his judgement in regards to Coulter.

Gravatar Ha, ah said ah'd veto the time table, and I did!
Ah'm the Decider
Ah hear the voices

Gravatar Maher mentioned Giuliani's failure to move the emergency command center out of the WTC after the 1993 attack. Maher could have mentioned other failures by Rudolph, including the failure to give compatible radios to the police, firefighters and other emergency responders so that they could talk to each other. Again, this is after the 1993 WTC attack. Opponents of Giuliani will be able to pull a Karl Rove and successfully attack him on the very issue where he claims to be the strongest.

Gravatar Bill was good for once...when he wasn't trying to be funny.

Gravatar Hey, Chris, guess what? Gore was right about Bush or have you been asleep for the last six years?

Gravatar Jon Stewart - Satirical

Keith Olbermann - Serious Business

Bill Maher - the REAL straight talk express

Gravatar chris just hadda get one repub talking point in there at the end of the clip and bill should've promptly corrected him.

Gravatar Loved the Bassett hound comment. Hope it sticks. Bill Maher is always so clever. I love him.

Gravatar didn't think this was the greatest clip I love maher but he misses some swings like Gore being right.

Reasonable fears vs unrealistic fears and comprimising american rights.

Gravatar Maher does say some stupid things, but about 90% of the time he gets it right, which is far, far, far better than we've come to expect from the likes of Tweety and his gang of GOP enablers.

Gravatar What the f&%k was Matthews talking about at the end? Gore tried fear of what Bush would do to the economy, and it didn't work?
Hello!
Bush not only screwed the economy, he basically screwed the US for a decade after he leaves office!
Tweety should join the reality based community!

Gravatar Tweety from 4 years ago, when Bush landed in his flight suit:
"He looks for real. What is it about the commander in chief role, the hat that he does wear, that makes him -- I mean, he seems like -- he didn't fight in a war, but he looks like he does."

Attaboy, dick head!

Gravatar Tweety is certainly consistant!
During a discussion of former CIA director George Tenet's newly released book on the April 30 edition of MSNBC's Hardball, host Chris Matthews stated: "I wish somebody would write a book and tell me when President Bush, who's not an ideologue, why he went along with this war, with the neocons, with Tenet, with all the rest of them. I've never heard that really good account."

Gravatar Yay! is either incredibly ill-informed or has amnesia. The Office of Emergency Management on the 23rd floor of 7 World Trade Center was more than "a government office." It was supposed to coordinate communication among emergency responders during the worst attack on American soil in this nation's history. But because it was located just about as close to that attack as anyone could be, it was evactuated because of flying debris. Perhaps if they were located elsewhere, the response coordinators would have been able to do their jobs and so many firefighters and police would not have died. Some people knew about the threat in 1993 and tried to get their employers to relocate elsewhere, but leases prevented companies from doing so. If these civilians were so aware of the danger, why wasn't the mayor of the city more astute?

Gravatar Yeah I noticed too that Maher forgot to mention that Guiliani's office was not WTC 1 or 2, but WTC 7. And he also forgot to say, that while Guiliani was 'tough' on the mob, both his uncle and Dad were former mobsters, so how tough could he have been? And then there was Bernard Kerik. Maybe he just gave them advice on how to do business more quietly.

Gravatar Those remarks by Maher might've been amusing the first time he said them, but not the fifth. He got a chuckle out of them on his show, so he goes to the well every time. Not one comment he made here with Matthews was an original thought, or at least not part of his comedy routine.

Gravatar Is it widely known that Fred Thompson is owned by the American Enterprise Institute ?
http://www.aei.org/scholars/scho...all/ scholar.asp

Gravatar i haven't sat and watched tweety since before i had my awakening (former peupblican)- he certainly comes across as unbearably eager for republican affection. the way he frames his questions is nauseating.

anyway, i know this post is about fred thompson and pathetic repub's wanting a reaganite, but i could not help but notice that lengthy guilianni cock gobbling fest. tweety really presented him as though he's that capable of becoming president, as though he's actually the hero of 9/11.

but i keep hearing new yorkers themselves screaming that for god's sake that's just not true. the firefighters union despises the man for what he did to them. but the media continues to prop him up and guide along that myth for minions to keep buying into.

and unfortunately, the people of this country- namely those who elected the greatest terrorist this country has ever seen, myself excluded- continue to buy this phony legend and believe that giulianni deserves a fightin chance.

and sadly i report that down here in NOLA, i have seen several guilianni for president bumper stickers, and i have not seen any other 08's (a grand total of three thus far, though i don't suppose i should exclude the entertaining colbert/stewart sticker)...

Gravatar Anyone catch Freddie on Hannity & Colmes last night. Thompson is just ANOTHER reich-wing partisan hack. He quickly pulled out the tired and baseless GOPig reich-wing talking points. He claimed the DNC is run by moveon.org and by the "extreme left elements". He's just as vile and anti-American as dubyah and the rest of the scum on the reich.

Gravatar forget it,

Gravatar Matthews is a little too swept up in the "star power" of MSNBC's upcoming Republican candidate debate. He did a misty-eyed piece on the Ronnie Library, and several times waxed eloquent over how the candidates would be standing RIGHT IN FRONT of the very A.F.1 flown by Ronnie himself! WOW. Just WOW. Matthews may have giggled off-screen about the Thompson comments, but did you notice that he vigorously defended "America's Mayor" against Maher's 9/11 criticism, and that Maher's comments about the sick GOP hero worship of Reagan went right over Matthews' head? Say what you want about Don Imus...he was interviewed by Matthews at the 2004 presidential debates, and he confronted the host over the fact that he interrupts his guests, never listens...Matthews responded by giggling and saying he just "gets into it." He was "selectively listening" to Maher last night. He just didn't get it, the "bigger point" Maher was making. Like every other interview, he had an agenda and sought agreement with his views and only picked up on select comments from his guest. Matthews may consider himself a "journalist," but he too often engages in hero worship of his idols. A guest on Olbermann's show discussed this last night...Matthews (along with Lou Dobbs, sho was a guest on "The Chris Matthews Show" that followed the "M.A." incident) gushing over Bush in the Mission Accomplished flight suit, how women love him now because he's a real man and women love real men...some men love real men too. On that show, Dobbs enthused that Bush "hit one right out of the park, and it's still going." I wonder if Lou would be willing to stand behind that statement today.

Gravatar I find Tweety's gratuitous shot at Gore at the end MOST interesting. And yeah, let's not forget this is the guy that said, all-misty eyed "We're ALL neo-cons now!" Tweety can bite my ass.

Gravatar I appreciate Maher's liberal slant, but I often think he doesn't know what he's talking about. And perhaps a little obnoxious.

Watch a Daily Show episode back to back with Real Time, and you'll see what I'm saying.

(Or maybe it's just that Jon Stewart is so good at what he does that he makes Maher look so bad? Could be.)

God bless J.S.

Gravatar Somebody point out to Tweety that Duhbya and his GOP cohorts HAVE wrecked the economy, so Gore was right. Maher was tremendous as always. He's dead on about Giuliani and his comments about the GOP's fixation with Ronald Reagan were hysterical. It's true, the Republicans are looking for the next St. Ronnie but there's something really sick that drives them - they're looking for a strong daddy type figure to sell to the Red State bedwetters, that's why they want Thompson (a guy with so little charisma he makes Jack Webb from "Dragnet" look like Mr. Excitement).

Gravatar And no one else besides me thinks Maher's reference to the repugs as "a little gay" is an inappropriate use of the word "gay" as a pejorative? What if he'd said, "a little black?" And I LIKE Bill Maher--I just think we should strive for some consistency. As a gay man, his remarks struck a wrong chord with me this time.

Gravatar As a gay man, his remarks struck a wrong chord with me this time.

I can understand what you're saying, but I think when Maher uses it, it's to point out the Republicans, with their anti-gay stance and macho militaristic posturing are really nothing but hypocritical closet cases. I don't think he uses it to denigrate gays, but rather to ridicule these reichwing knuckledraggers who have made hating gays a way of life.

Gravatar I thought it was funny and not over the top. Pointing out that these right wingers have some kind of soviet-esque love of the "strong man, he strong like bull". Democrats dont even lionize JFK like that. Its just a part of the rightwing psychology that they need to bow and scrape before idols (Jesus, Bush, Reagan) with annoying regularity.

Gravatar Rudi "The Terror Profiteer" Guiliani

Gravatar gene214 | 05.02.07 - 10:43 am | #

Wouldn't you just simply love to see an all drag version of Dragnet?

It could be the tv version of A Chorus Line.

That would be absolutely fabulous.

Gravatar Matthews is so disingenuous, I know for a fact that the is supporting Guiliani. I've was told by a very close friend of his that Rudy is his man. When Rudy goes down in flames, Matthews will embrace Fred Thompson.

Matthews loves the attention that he gets from people like Bill Maher and Leno and all of the others who are in the entertainment business. However, a very dear friend of mine in BelAir told me they find Matthews a rather sad, pathetic hangeron. He loves access and he is a very insecure person. That is why he is so obnoxious.

Don't even get me started on his table manners--he should be eating in a pig sty. He is so ill-mannered. He gets all of this access because of his job. If it all ended tomorrow, these same people that he is chasing wouldn't return his calls.

Not to worry, Tweety has a book to finish and he will be going on a leave of absence. I can't be bothered with his insipid, stupid show.

I just pray, that his plans for working on that book don't entail spending the summer on Nantucket.
