I doubt they're going to let him go. With the presidential search fiasco, the athletic department is not going to buy out his contract and search for a new coach. The timing is just not right. |

The athletic department wouldn't have to buy out his contract because he was initiating the split. If they fired him (a la Morgan), then there would be a buyout. I've kinda been mulling this over the past day or so, and to be honest, it's probably a good move for both SA and Iowa. The fanbase over in Iowa City has had it with Alford, but with the extension he just got, it was highly unlikely he would be fired any time soon. This is probably the best way for them go their separate ways. If it's true, who do you guys think will be the new HC? Altman? Kruger? Lowery? Those are the names I'm hearing, but who knows if there's anything to the rumors. |
