I was schooling the newbies at the student center Starbucks this week. "Tall" rhymes with "small." Simpler to keep straight than "port wine is red" and "port" and "left" both have four letters, the nautical mnemonics for respectively the running lights and the burdened tack.

Steve, thought I should point out to you that the nautical mnemonics you refer to are not for the running lights, but the side of the ship. The port is the left side, starboard the right side. Port is four letters, so is left, starboard is longer than port as right is longer than left (in terms of letters). Anyways, that is what I'm sure you were referencing, as running lights for both port (left) and starboard (right) are red and green respectively.

?????
Is this a blog about nautical jibber-jabber?
No.
It's a blog about me.
So be warned: The next person to comment better tell me I'm hot...or brilliant...or some convex combination thereof.
...and if you're able to do it using nautical nonsense speak....then everybody's happy.
...whatever floats your boat....*yuck snort*

Anon. is clearly not a racing sailor. If the wind comes over your left shoulder you're burdened. You'll see a red marker on the bow of the crossing right-of-way boat. Q.E.D.
The weblog owner is eternally grateful that we did not do "Covering strategies" in our game theory unit.
